Risk of Rain Returns
Step 1: Preparing For The Run
Before starting the run, make sure you have the following settings.
Step 2: Finding The Strange Battery
The Strange Battery can be found on both variations of the level 5 map, Temple of the Elders. Depending on which version you get, it’s eitheron the far right or far left cornerof the map. To find the battery, you’ll need to reach the top of the wall on the edge of the map using the platforms. Once you’re at the top, jump off the edge. There will be a small ledge you can land on with an innocuous chest on it. Interact with the chest to find theStrange Battery. Equip it and move on to the next stage: Contact Light.

Step 3: Using The Strange Battery
In Contact Light, keep moving right until you see the sign saying ‘Bridge’ leading to the final boss fight against Providence. Near this sign will be a ladder leading down to a small tunnel with two doors. The Left door leads to the Medical Bay, and theright door leads to the Cabin. Both doors are locked andrequire a Keycardto open. Keycards can be looted from Golden Chests in the previous area. They also have a chance to drop from monsters in Contact Light.
With a Keycard, unlock the Cabin and go to the edge of the stage on the right.Jump off the edge to find the secret area nestled in the bedrock of the stage on the left. Enter the small gap to reach it; you will need to use some movement ability to go through the gap.

In this area, you’ll see someGolems near a boombox. Go past them into the small hole in the wall. Find an empty, open chest in the next chamber. Interact with it, and your character willdeposit the Strange Battery into the chest. End the run either by dying or defeating Providence.
The dark grey chest in Contact Light functions as a way to transfer equipment from one run to the next. You can do the same for any equipment you find in future runs.

Step 4: The Second Run
Before starting the next run, make sure that you have the following settings enabled.
In the second run, progress to the second stage(variation doesn’t matter) and look for thedark grey equipment chestyou placed the Strange Battery in. It’ll spawn somewhere in this stage randomly.

Find and open the chest to find theStrange Batteryinside. Equip it again and take the teleporter to Stage 3.

Miner is a tricky character to unlock in Risk of Rain Returns. Here is a guide on how to get him!
Step 5: Waiting For 22 Minutes
In Stage 3, clear the map quickly, but don’t go to the next stage immediately.Wait until the timer on the top right reaches 22:00 on the dot and take the teleporter.
There are conflicting reports about the exact time you need to take the teleporter. Most sources say that taking it at exactly 22 minutes is required, but others say anywherebetween 22:00 and 22:59is fine. I used the teleporter at exactly 22:00 out of fear of messing up and restarting the process from the beginning.

Step 6: Finding Robomando
In the fourth stage, look for a small pile of rubble with a green arrow pointing downward. It’ll spawn in a random secret room on any variation of the fourth stage. Look for hidden vines or hidden alcoves on the map if you’re having trouble finding the rooms. I found it in the Hive Cluster near the middle of the stage.
Once you find it, interact with it toplace the Strange Battery inside. Immediately, a new character will spawn on the screen with a white health bar. This is Robomando, the sixteenth secret Survivor players can unlock as a new playable class with the Strang Battery.
The last step to unlocking Robomando is tostand still and let him kill you. Once you die, the run will end, and you’ll unlock thesecret achievement ‘Huh?'.Go back to the character selection screen, and you’ll find Robomando on the bottom right of the Survivor list.
