One of the trickier Survivors to unlock is the Chef. This character can only be unlocked by collecting a very specific group of items in a single run. Here is how to get him.

Unlocking Chef (Gourmet Challenge)
The Chef can be unlocked by obtaining the Meat Nugget, Bustling Fungus, Sprouting Egg, Bitter Root, and Foreign Fruit Items in a single runto complete the Gourmet Challenge. Among the required items, the Bitter Root is the only one that requires completing a challenge to unlock.
Unlocking Bitter Root
To unlock Bitter Root, you have to complete the “In Good Health” Challenge by reaching650 Health with any character during a run. This can easily be achieved if you’re consistently getting to later levels in the game with high-health pool Survivors like the Loader.
Leveling up during a runautomatically increases the Survivor’s HP, which means that if you get your level high enough, you can get 650 HP even without any items.Drizzle difficultyalso gives Survivors a 150% Health boost.
However, items will help you get there quicker. The primary item that can help you reach 650 Health quicker isInfusion. Killing any enemy with Infusion equippedincreases your character’s HP by 0.5, permanently.
Completing The Gourmet Challenge
Without special preparation, theGourmet Challenge (collecting Meat Nugget, Bustling Fungus, Sprouting Egg, Bitter Root, and Foreign Fruit Items in a single run)to unlock Chef is purelyRNG-based. In fact, we unlocked the Chef without any special preparations and just during a regular Drizzle difficulty run.
