Video games, such as the recently releasedRise of the Roninare one of the few pieces of entertainment that are meticulously crafted to perfection over the years to give the player the best experience possible. Most video games also just stick to the main element of their genre, like how the storyline of story mode/ open-world games would follow one single path. However, theRise of the Ronin title, exclusively released on the PS5, aims to do it differently. In a recentPlayStation Blog, the developers of the game revealed a few features about the game, one of which has been rarely ever seen before in open-world games, but will definitely be welcomed by fans.

Developers OfRise Of The RoninDiscuss About One Of The Most Exciting Features In the Game
As discussed before, video games set in the open-world genre tend to stick to a single main storyline that doesn’t deviate much. Some of these games, likeElden Ring, allow the players to obtain different conclusions during the ending depending on the choices you made throughout, but none of them allow you to see what could have been possible otherwise.

That is what makesRise of the Roninspecial, the blog throws light on the fact that the player is allowed to explore what other possibilities could one have explored if they chose to act otherwise at a certain event. In simpler terms, players are allowed to go back on the choices they made and explore different consequences of their actions after a point in the game.
In order to unlock the ability to choose different actions for events that have occurred in the past, the player would need to reach the City of Edo as a basic requirement. This will unlock the Testaments of Soul feature which allows you to replay missions that have been already completed, permitting you to make choices that you may not have made before, changing the outcome entirely.

Alongsidethe many features the game already has, it also contains an option to choose a difficulty for the game, which has been an accepted norm in every story-based game. However, this is somethingHidetaka Miyazakirefuses to follow, as he believes the extreme difficulty combined with the non-existent option of turning it down will deliver theplayers a great sense of achievementwhen they are done with the game.

On the other hand,Rise of the Roninoffers three different difficulties to the player from the very beginning of the game, called the Dawn, Dusk, and Twilight modes, with each one increasing in difficulty respectively.
The developers have also gone into great detail to suggest what difficulty might be the best for a specific player, beginning with how Dawn is for those who like to indulge themselves in the story more than the combat, giving them an easy path to purely sit back and enjoy the lore. Furthermore, the Dusk mode allows the player to have a balanced experience, with Twilight mode being the hardest difficulty, for those who are looking for a challenge.
