After delaying the launch of Y8S4: Operation Deep Freeze,Ubisofthas now confirmed thatRainbow Six Siegeplayers will be able to jump into the new season on Wednesday, December 6th.
Operation Deep Freeze was originally scheduled to launch on Tuesday, November 28th, after being released on the game’s test servers earlier in the month. But right as the new season was set to launch, Ubisoft took toX(formerly known as Twitter) to confirm the unexpected delay. “We have decided to postpone the release of Rainbow Six Siege’s Year 8 Season 4, Operation Deep Freeze, for further testing to ensure the best possible experience for players”, Ubisoft said in the statement.

Despite the last-second delay, Xbox One and Series X|S users still received the new content update. Shortly after the delay was announced, Ubisoft acknowledged the incorrectly deployed update for Xbox users, saying that it was “looking into the best course of action to address this issue.” A little over an hour later the studio had deployed another update, reverting the accidental release of Operation Deep Freeze on Xbox consoles.

Although the official release date for the new season was delayed, Ubisoft did extend the game’s test servers up until Tuesday, December 5th at 4PM EST. This allowed players to continue playing Operation Deep Freeze whilst it was still in testing, and presumably allow Ubisoft to continue to squash any bugs that arose during the testing period.
Ubisoft did not provide a concrete reason as to why the new season was delayed, only that it required further testing, as mentioned previously. For a studio to delay the launch of a new season right as it set to launch implies that a serious bug, glitch, or exploit was discovered just before its release, so fingers crossed that the new season launches without any major issues.

Rainbow Six Siege Y8S4: Operation Deep Freeze will see the introduction of Tubarão, a defender from Portugal. Fans can also expect to jump into a brand-new map known as Lair, as well as plenty of new features and quality-of-life improvements. The new season is now set to launch on PlayStation, Xbox, and PC on Wednesday, December 6th.
