It’s not a good week to be an Xbox fan. With news breaking thatMicrosoft is shedding over 9,000 jobs, which greatly impacted Microsoft Gaming (Xbox), it seems the bad news isn’t stopping anytime soon.
This time, a veteran Xbox studio has seemingly been shut down and has now been relegated to a support studio.

While nothing official has been announced by Microsoft or anyone connected to the Xbox division, former employees of the studio have shared the studio’s closure online.
Forza Developer Said To Be Transitioning To Support Work
Turn 10 Studios, the creator of the Forza racing franchise and the developers behind theForza Motorsportseries, has reportedly closed.
The news was confirmed by former Turn 10 Studios Content Coordinator Fred Russell over onFacebook, where he shared, “Turn 10 Studios has shuttered the Forza Motorsport space and the team is no more. A very sad day for one of the best car racing video games. I loved my time there.”
One former Turn 10 employee said they couldn’t believe the studio is closed, with Russell commenting, “the studio is open to support the Horizon side…shuttered the Forza Motorsport side only.”
In case you weren’t aware, Microsoft has two studios working on the Forza brand.Turn 10 was behind the Motorsport series, while Playground Games is behind the Forza Horizon franchise.Based on Russell’s comment, Turn 10 now solely exists to help support Playground Games.
I mean, having work is still the better option, but this is a surprising move by Microsoft, given that the Forza games usually do well.

Microsoft hasn’t officially announced Turn 10’s closure or transition, but the evidence that they have seems pretty concrete. While it’s ever-growing,the list of canceled Xbox games, a result of the bloodbath that transpired this week, is a sad reminder of what the Xbox brand could have achieved with proper direction.
If the news isn’t sad enough, a report surfaced yesterday stating that Microsoft was “trying their damnest” to replace the Halo Studios developers with AI (artificial intelligence).
It’s been a bad few months for racing fans, as back in May, it was reported that publisher Electronic Artsis planning to close Codemasters—a company EA acquired in 2021. Codemasters is the home of the F1 racing franchise and the DiRT series, which EA transitioned to EA Sports WRCbefore discontinuing it in April, just one game after its release.
When it comes to Turn 10, let’s hope whoever’s affected lands on their feet soon.
