The event will last until March 12, at 11:59 PM UTC. While there’s plenty of time to find them, it’s still limited. If you’d like to battle and catch Iron Leaves for yourself, here’s some info and tips to make things easier for you.

What Is Iron Leaves?

Iron Leaves is a Future Paradox form of Virizion, a legendary Pokemon first introduced in the fifth generation. It’s a dualGrass/Psychic-type Pokémonthat will havePsychic as its Tera Type. It is level 75 and its ability isQuark Drive, which will boost its Speed stat on Electric Terrain or if it’s holding Booster Energy.

Iron Leaves' Moveset

Iron Leaves' moves consist of the following:

Move (Type) & PP

Description

Psyblade (Psychic), 15

The user rends the target with an ethereal blade. This move’s power is boosted by 50 percent if the user is on Electric Terrain.

Leaf Blade (Grass), 15

The user handles a sharp leaf like a sword and cuts the target to inflict damage. This move has a heightened chance of landing a critical hit.

Megahorn (Bug), 10

Using its tough and impressive horn, the user rams into the target with no letup.

Swords Dance (Normal), 20

A frenetic dance to uplift the fighting spirit. This sharply boosts the user’s Attack stat.

Iron Leaves will start each Tera Raid Battle using Electric Terrain, despite the move not being a part of its overall moveset. This will not only activate its Quark Drive ability, but it will also boost the power of its move Psyblade.

How To Find Iron Leaves

Iron Leaves will be found in 5-Star Tera Raid Dens. Dens of that difficulty are unlocked by completing the game and viewing the end credits. Professor Jacq will call you afterward to notify you that the harder Raid Dens will be made available to you. Since the event lasts for a long time, you have plenty of time to complete the story if you haven’t already.

Iron Leaves is also only found in Tera Raid Dens in Pokémon Violet. If you have Pokémon Scarlet, you’ll have to resort to joining the Tera Raid of a friend that has Pokémon Violet through a Link Code, or see if anyone is hosting an Iron Leaves Tera Raid Battle on the online Tera Raid Board.

If you have Pokémon Violet, you can search for an Event Tera Raid Den on your map. You’ll be able to tell the den apart from normal dens by how it sparkles on the map. It was also sparkle a lot more noticeably in the overworld. Additionally, Iron Leaves will only have Psychic as its Tera Type, so that makes it even easier to look for.

If you don’t see any Iron Leaves Tera Raid Dens, you can fix this by changing your clock’s time in the System Settings. If you change the time to one minute before a new day begins (11:59 PM), then return to the game and wait for the clock to change to the next day, this will refresh all the dens (as well as outbreaks if you want to hunt for shinies) into new ones. If there still aren’t any Iron Leaves still, you can repeat the process until one eventually pops up.

What Type/Pokémon To Use?

Iron Leaves has Psychic as its Tera Type. This means your best choices are types that are super effective against Psychic:Bug,Ghost, andDark. Unless it has another type to balance it out and great Defense, a Dark-type Pokémon isn’t a great choice due to Iron Leaves having access to Megahorn. You’re better off with either aBug-type or a Ghost-type Pokemon, preferably Ghost for added resistance to Megahorn. Keep in mind the Tera Type of the Pokémon you choose as well.

If you don’t have either of those types, your next priority would be types that are resistant or immune to Iron Leave’s attacks, more specifically its Psyblade. Psychic- and Steel-types resist the typing while Dark-types are immune to it. Once again, Dark-types are not a great bet due to them having Megahorn. On the other hand, Steel-types are resistant to not only Megahorn but the power of Leaf Blade as well.

A recommended Pokémon to use would be something that can deal with Iron Leaves' power and speed. On top of that, something that can handle and abuse its Psychic Tera-Type will be very useful. A decent Pokémon would be Froslass, due to it having the typing to resist Iron Leave’s moves as well as the move pool to deal with its Speed and Attack stats.

Elaborating on dealing with Iron Leaves' speed and power, something you’ll need to do first is get rid of its Electric Terrain. Since it’s not actually a part of its moveset, you don’t have to worry about it using the move again. Using another terrain move is one option, but some have their drawbacks. Grassy Terrain will increase the power of Leaf Blade and Misty Terrain prevents the use of status moves against it. While Psychic Terrain also boosts the power of Psyblade, it is to a lesser degree than Electric Terrain does, and it negates priority moves; so if your team doesn’t use priority moves against it, Psychic Terrain is the bes option of the three. Alternatively, using a move like Ice Spinner to get rid of terrain entirely is also an option, and likely the best one.

You should also try to use other moves to deal with its power, more specifically moves that lower its Attack stat. This is mandatory due to it having Swords Dance, which can make up for the lack of Electric Terrain to boost Psyblade’s power. Charm is a good choice since it lowers it by two stages, pretty much undoing any Sword Dance attempts. But verify to do so before it puts up the shield, which makes status moves useless against it. Having a Pokémon that can use Reflect is also very handy.

As for Iron Leave’s defensive stats, its base Defense stat is 88 and its base Sp. Def stat is 108. Being 20 points higher, that’s a significant boost for the Sp. Def stat. If you want to get the most damage out of attacking it, you’ll want to use physical attacks. However, this can be a bit difficult to manage since the options for physical attacking Pokémon that are super effective against Psychic-types aren’t that great. Because of this, you can instead raise your Sp. Atk power or lower its Sp. Def. For the latter, Shadow Ball is pretty helpful even though lowering its Sp. Def only comes around by chance. However, with it being an attacking move, it’s possible to have this effect even when its shield is up.

Catching Iron Leaves

If you manage to defeat Iron Leaves, you can catch it in whatever PokeBall you want with a 100% success rate. However, this Legendary Paradox Pokémon can only be caught once per save file, so you need to choose wisely. You’ll still be able to find and battle it until the event ends if you wish.
