Pokemon GO and the Pokemon Trading Card Game have been two separate, yet very popular entities under the Pokemon umbrella. Now, they’re crossing over with a special TCG Crossover event that includes some new Collection Challenges for you to complete.

This is a two-way crossover, as the Pokemon TCG itself is releasing an expansion based on Pokemon GO right now as well. One of the coolest elements of this is the hidden Ditto cards with peelable fronts to disguise them.

As for the Pokemon GO side of the crossover, there are a number of Collection Challenges available that will definitely require you to spend some time to finish them all over the next couple of weeks.

When Is The Event?

The Pokemon GO TCG Crossover Event starts on Thursday, June 16, at 10:00 am local time and will run for two weeks until Thursday, June 30, at 8:00 pm local time.

During this crossover event, there will be some very interesting Pokemon spawns that include the original Kanto starter and their second evolutions. Shiny Meltan is also back during this time for those trying to get one from their Mystery Box.

This event also brings in Wimpod and its evolution Golisopod for the first time in Pokemon GO. In addition, there is a brand new TCG Hat Pikachu that will be appearing in the game exclusively during this event that you will definitely want to catch.

Pokemon GO TCG Crossover Collection Challenge

The Pokemon GO TCG Crossover event features not just one Collection Challenge to complete, but six separate ones that will each reward you with varying amounts of XP for completion. That is just to start, as an additional three will unlock next week as well.

These aren’t going to be anywhere near as easy to finish as say the ones during events like GO Fest, so be prepared to do likes of catching over the next couple of weeks.

Thanks toSerebii, we have the full rundown of what you will need for each Collection Challenge.

Kanto Collection Challenge

Trade Collection Challenge

Advanced Collection Challenge

Bulbasaur Collection Challenge 1

Charmander Collection Challenge 1

Squirtle Collection Challenge 1

There is no question that this is one of the more difficult Collection Challenges to complete, which is why the rewards are so stacked with lots of XP.

It remains to be seen just how hard it will be to get the usually hard-to-find spawns such as Dragonite and Slaking in the wild. In addition, you will have to have a trade partner to complete two of them as well.

For those struggling to find some of the Pokemon, make sure to spin Pokemons and get some of the event-exclusive Field Research, which includes a Catch 40 Pokemon that rewards you with a Snorlax, Dragonite, or Slaking encounter. Those like Charizard, Blastoise, and Venusaur will more than likely not be spawning for you, as they are not event spawns, you will have to rely on Field Research and raids for them.

The good news is that while this is a difficult Collection Challenge, you do have two weeks to complete it. Make sure to start catching as much as you can to get this one finished before it goes away.
