However, his time on the show was approaching its end when Morgan realized that he wanted a bit more of it. “Grey’s Anatomy I knew was something special, that’s the one time I saw my death coming and was trying everything I could do to get out of that death. That character Danny and that love story with Izzie kind of took the world by storm, I knew how f*cking lucky I was to be there and I was like please don’t kill me… I begged [Shonda]… and [being Denny] is what changed my life.”

Enamored with the show and his character, Jeffrey Dean Morgan admitted begging the producer to extend his stay. Although he knew his 23-episode contract was coming to its end, w hich meant his character’s looming death, Morgan admitted trying his best to avoid the ending. Unwilling to let go of the character and realizing how the cast ofGrey’s Anatomyhad become like family to him, Morgan noted figuring out a way to stay back.

At the end of season 2, although Denny received a heart transplant, he unfortunately passed away, leaving his fan-favorite romance with Izzie incomplete.
