A recent PlayStation Globaljob listingmay have unintentionally revealed an upcoming takeover of studio Ballistic Moon, a United Kingdom developer “currently working with an AAA publisher in the early stages of a major new project.”
In the job posting for Senior Dialogue Designer at PlayStation Global, it’s mentioned that the role involves working with Sony’s various partners, including Ballistic Moon. What’s notable is the studios listed were all first-party developers like Sony Santa Monica, Sucker Punch, Naughty Dog and so on. That is, except for Ballistic Moon. As the news circulated, Ballistic Moon was removed from the job listing.

It wasalready rumoredthat Sony Interactive Entertainment would be publishing a big-budget AAA title under development at the UK-based Ballistic Moon studio. However, the recent inclusion of the studio’s name among Sony’s first-party studios has ignited speculation about a possible acquisition of the indie studio.

In the original posting, it was stated the successful applicant would be “collaborating with sound design and music to deliver outstanding soundscapes for major AAA projects alongside our partners at studios such asNaughty Dog,Santa Monica Studio,Guerrilla Games, Firesprite, Ballistic Moon,London Studios,Housemarque,Media Molecule,Insomniac Games,Sucker Punch Productions, and more.”
Ballistic Moon was founded by former members ofSupermassive Games, the developer behindUntil Dawn. So, safe to say that Ballistic Moon’s leadership already has a history of working with Sony. Whether the job listing was simply an error or if Sony is planning a full takeover of Ballistic Moon will likely become apparent in the near future.
