Persona 5 Tacticamakes a few changes with Personas compared to the main game while still keeping the traditional fusion system. Now, all characters can equip a second Persona known as a Sub Persona, which allows that character access to two other skills and additional stats.

With all characters now using Sub Personas, it’s even more important to fully understand the fusion system to make sure your party is as strong as possible. While fusion is slightly different in Tactica, it’s overall more simplified than in previous entries in the series.

How To Fuse Personas

After completing the first few main missions, Lavenza will have the Velvet Room up and running. She will provide a few Personas for the player to use to start fusing newPersonasright away. Much like previous games, players willselect two personas to combine to create a new Persona, this time withonly one skill being carried overbetween the two Personas. This isdone in the Velvet Room by selecting the first option of “Fuse New Persona,“with the Velvet Room being accessed either in the Hideout or before any battle when selecting your party.

Aside from your party’s main Personas, all the other personas in the game only have two skills,a Unique and Inherited skill. Unique skills are, as their name implies, unique to that Persona and a skill that will be learned upon fusing that Persona.Inherited skills are able to bepassed along to other Personas through fusion. When fusing two Personas, players are able topick between the two Inherited and Unique skills of the fused Personas to select one to be the Inherited skill of the new Persona.

The Persona Fusion Menu

With this new system, only one skill from a Persona can be passed along.Through the Compendium, old versions of a Persona can be brought back to Inherit its skill into another Persona. Different skills can be found on newly found Personas, making it important to always check new Personas for powerful Inherited skills to pass along through fusion.

How To Get New Personas

After unlocking the Velvet Room and Sub Personas, players willbegin obtaining new Personas as random loot after completing missions and quests. They are a very common source of loot, with playersoften getting 3 or 4 Personas at a time. The level of a Persona is determined by which mission is completed, and while the Persona’s unique skill is set to the type of Persona, the Inherited Skill is randomized. The Persona inventory in theVelvet Roomis limited, making it important to go back and fuse old Personas to pass along skills and make room for new Personas. If aPersona is obtained while one is already in the Velvet Room inventory, that Persona will simply get XPinstead of a duplicate.
