Atlus and Sega announced on July 13 thePersona25th anniversary project, teasing new games are coming, possiblyPersona 6.

In December 2020, Kazuhisa Wada, one of the producer and director of thePersonaseries teased several developments coming for the 25th anniversary this 2021. Now, seven announcements were teased by Atlus, the first one coming in September 2021, with more to come until Fall 2022 (September-October 2022).

Persona 6teased - What you need to know right now

Atlus published a key visual for the 25th anniversary of the series, seen above. The 25th in the logo features the theme color of all mainPersonagames so far, and after the color red, which is the theme color forPersona 5, the logo turns black and white. These colors could end up being the theme color for aPersona 6about to be announced.

Moreover, among the new merch sold for the 25th anniversary, you can find a set of eight trading cards for the protagonists. Yep, there’s an eighth “secret” card, which should be the protagonist forPersona 6. All the other goods are listed on theofficial site.

It’s also important to note it isn’t the first time Atlus pulls a stunt like this. Joker,Persona 5’s protagonist, was first teased in a similar way with the key visual and merch for the Persona Super Live 2015 concert. Only his back could be seen, whilePersona 3and4’s protagonist were in full view.

IfPersona 6is announced, it’s likely to be one of the final announcements of the 25th anniversary year, and to be revealed in Fall 2022.

Persona 6should also be developed by a different core team than the past three main games. Right now, the main staff ofPersona 3to5has made its separate team at Atlus, Studio Zero, which worked onCatherine Full Body. They’ve also been working onProject Re Fantasy, a new fantasy themed RPG. The latest development update on the game was in December 2020.

25th anniversary predictions -Persona 5 Arenais happening? Will we get aPersona 3remaster?

Seven announcements are teased in total on theofficial pagefor thePersona25th Anniversary Year project. Atlus already stated these projects are games, events, new commemoration merch, and collab events.

Some fans are expecting a remaster ofPersona 3to be released at some point. This July 13, the PS2 JRPG is celebrating its 15th anniversary. A Steam port is possible seeing Sega’spast commentstoo. The first three games,Persona 1, Persona 2 Innocent Sin, Persona 2 Eternal Punishment, could really use remasters too.

The last mainPersonagame isPersona 5 Scramble the Phantom Strikers, known asPersona 5 Strikers(Review) outside Japan, on PS4, Switch, and Steam.

Personally speaking I loved it. The Action RPG battle system isn’t as perfect as in anYsgame, but the story was particularly great as a sequel toPersona 5.Most notably with how the characters actually get new sides of themselves portrayed, and all the new characters were endearing. I definitely hope to see morePersona 5sequels. APersona 5 Arenawould be nice, and in the past Atlus did register the domain nameP5U, as pointed out by our peers atPersona Central.

Persona 6related predictions

In the past, DualShockers actually held a panel where we shared our thoughts on what Atlus could do withPersona 6. In my case, one of the points I focused on is how this will be the first mainPersonagame developed by Atlus under Sega’s wing. Which makes me hope for higher production values. I don’t really care about graphics and the like, as long as the artistic direction is as good asP5. But I hope the game will be more ambitious overall, such as finally fully voicing the S-link events.

In any case, future announcements will be coming on the Japanese Twitter for thePersonaseries. I’m pretty excited for September 2021. You can always share your thoughts me on thePersonaseries on Twitter@A_iyane07.
