Every now and then, there comes a show that takes the mainstream by storm, either causing the media industry to change for the foreseeable future or becoming an important trivia question in a puzzle or two. Patrick J. Adams revealed where he thinksSuitslands on that spectrum.

Among the shows that change television, there are often some pallet cleansers that fans and audiences like to circle back to time and time again. These shows often don’t have much to offer by making a splash in the industry, but end up being comfort watches for their audiences. This is exactly the category where Patrick J Adams thinksSuitsfalls in.
Suitsis something of a guilty pleasure according to Patrick J. Adams
Adams was very clear on the fact thatSuitsis not a show that had a huge impact on cinema or television. Instead, the actor toldEsquire, thatSuitswas simply the show you would watch when there was nothing else interesting or worthwhile going around in the television space. He said:
But it’s one of those shows that people love to have in between the shows that change television. There’s the show that’s going to change the way I think about art, and life, and myself, and my family, and then there’s the show I just want to watch because I love these people, and they make me feel good.

Patrick J. Adamsbelieved that there was not much that a show likeSuitscould do when it came to changing how people saw television. It was not comparable to shows likeHouse of Cards,Games of Thrones,House of the Dragon, or evenThe Sopranos. However, it was something that viewers did not mind binging again and again at the end of a long day to unwind.
Suits is also a pretty light show
Adams also touched on the fact thatSuitsas a show does not go too deep into the heavy and complex topics it presents, instead focusing on keeping its plot and characters simple and easy to follow. There is also the fact that the show lacks any type of gratuitous or over-the-top violence, which is often seen as a marker of mature writing in game-changing shows likeThe BoysandGame of Thrones.

All in all, what the actor essentially tried to say is thatSuitsis not a bland show, but it is a show that is palatable to a large number of audiences, which makes it accessible in a manner that prestige dramas and fantasy series just fail to be all together. There is no source material that needs the audience’s attention and no clues to solve any big mystery. It’s simply a show that fans can put on and enjoy, and keep coming back to as they please.
