One thing thatNarutodoes best is variety. The series has a diverse range of characters, jutsu as well as kekkei-genkai. This also ties perfectly with the rich world-building in the manga.

Other than that, it had some of the best clans. This standalone aspect made the series so special. Yet it was also an element that was highly overlooked. This fits perfectly in conjunction with one of the lethal jutsu in the series.
In particular, the Reaper death Seal stands as one of the forbidden techniques in the series. But that is not the end of it all. The jutsu is packed with its disadvantages and is detrimental in most cases.

And though it has its fair share of retcons, Masashi Kishimoto screwed the pooch in this instance. This is especially true for one of the most underplayed Konoha clans that deserved a counteractive jutsu against the S-rank technique.
Konoha’s promising clan deserved its OP jutsu inNaruto
Often, people don’t realize how rich and abundantNarutois in terms of its storyline and characters. This holds regarding the blatant criticism associated with the series. But most of all it applies to the elements of the narrative.
In this case, this has majorly to do with the clans in the series. Be it kekkei genkai or signature techniques, most clans take centerstage in terms of their strength. While they are a valuable asset to the village, there is a catch to that.

It is a known fact that most clans and their strengths were grossly underplayed in the series. Like kekkei-genkai, their techniques were frittered away and slept on. It is evident in their key role during the Fourth Shinobi World War.
One such example is the Yamanaka clan which deserved its spotlight. From mind-destruction jutsu to mind-transfer jutsu, the clan is highly underrated in its strength. But this flatlines when it comes to theReaper Death Seal jutsu.

“It never occurred to me”: ‘Fairy Tail’ Creator Hiro Mashima Was Forced Into the Same Trap That Ruined Naruto’s Legacy
Inr/Naruto, users discussed Ino’s mind-transfer technique in conjunction with its disadvantages. While the Yamanaka clan is fluent in the mind jutsu, there is no counteractive jutsu to escape the Dead Demon Consuming Seal.
To put it simply, the mind jutsu may falter and result in the user’s soul consumption if they aren’t careful enough. And we all know how deadly Uzumaki’s sealing jutsu is. But it might be more potent than most people think.

Reaper Death Seal’s potency in Masashi Kishimoto’s series
Apart from clans,Masashi Kishimotogave us some of the most interesting yet potent jutsu in the series. The Dead Demon Consuming Seal is one such example with its forbidden nature and potency.
While it was originally introduced in Part 1, its origins were charted later on. It was first seen when Hiruzen Sarutobi sealed Orochimaru’s arms during the Konoha Crush Arc. The Snake Sannin later used it to regain his arms.
Like Edo Tensei, theDead Demon Consuming Sealrequires live sacrifice and is detrimental in every sense. Other than the Third Hokage, Minato, and Kushina are the known users of this jutsu.
This makes sense considering its origins from the Uzumaki clan. As for its potency, it can potentially kill the user because of its self-sacrificial nature. The only known ninja to escape death in this instance is Orochimaru.

Interestingly, this also paved the way for several retcons associated with this jutsu. And though the Yamanaka clan is safe for now, one thing is certain. It deserved its due glory like every other clan in theNarutoseries.
Naruto: Shippudenis available for streaming on Crunchyroll. The manga is available for reading on Shueisha’s Manga Plus app.
