The ending ofMy Hero Academiamight be controversial as heck. The final fight between Deku and All For One was offscreened to fit an epilogue that made Deku a McDonald’s employee rather than the world’s number one hero. The story started to drop in quality after the Dark Deku arc and a lot of general Shonen fans began to stop tracking the series after a certain point.

Series creator Kohei Horikoshi seemed to have lost the road by the time he reached the climax, probably like Gege Akutami for Jujutsu Kaisen. Maybe he just wanted to get it over with. As controversial as the ending can be, the final volume ofMy Hero Academiahas something meaningful for fans that would at least act for some redemption.
The hidden meaning behindMy Hero Academia‘s final volume
Fans on social media began comparing the volume covers ofMy Hero AcademiaVolume 1 and its final volume and found that it holds a deeper meaning than what appears on the surface. This could prove thatKohei Horikoshiactually gave the series some thought before concluding it.
If fans place both volume covers side by side and closely examine them, they will notice some significant details that carry hidden meanings. One is that the characters behind All Might in Volume 1 are painted red, while the characters behind Deku in the final volume are shaded with their original colors. One fan on Xstated that the red shade in Volume 1 is actually All Might’s cape, symbolizing the influence of hero society on All Might’s shoulders.

My Hero Academia’s Final Volume Cover is the Best of Kohei Horikoshi’s Genius Because of One Reason
However, the final cover depicts everyone in a normal color scheme, possibly reflecting their equal roles in society. In the beginning ofMy Hero Academia, All Might was basically everyone’s number 1 hero, but in the end, each hero became someone’s personal number 1 hero.Another fan pointed outthat it could represent the evolution of the hero archetype, showing that not all heroes need to fit into the classic mold.
What happened to Deku after the final war inMy Hero Academia?
Because he narrated the entire story, everyone assumed Deku would become the number one hero after the final war. In fact, Deku’s first line in the series was, “This is how I became the number 1 hero.” But that turned out to be false, as Deku became a teacher at UA High School alongside Aizawa-sensei.
Unfortunately, in Chapter 429, Deku uses a large burst of power to find Uraraka Ochaco, which further diminishes the flame. The embers of One For All likely persisted until the end of high school, at which point they finally vanished, leaving Deku once again devoid of quirkiness.

My Hero Academia Ending Wasn’t the Only Thing That Kohei Horikoshi Fumbled After What He Did to Shigaraki That No One Wanted
However, Deku was unaware that Class A and Bakugo had funded a supersuit similar to the one All Might wore in the battle against All For One. This would give Deku the chance to become a hero once more alongside Class A and compete with Bakugo for the top spot. Thanks to this new technology, it is finally Bakugo’s turn to extend his hand for Izuku to accept, once again saving the world as heroes.
