The Black Spider Ninja Clan has long been at odds with the Hayabusa Clan in the Ninja Gaiden series, but it looks like that might be changing.

Dotemu has released a new trailer for the 2D side-scrolling action game Ninja Gaiden: Ragebound, showing off new playable character Kumori, a member of the Black Spider Clan, to go with the main protagonist, Ryu Hayabusa’s protégé Kenji.

Ninja Gaiden Ragebound Kenji and Kumori

The trailer gives a glimpse of Kumori’s gameplay, which will differ from Kenji’s with a focus on speed and range, as opposed to Kenji’s melee-oriented style.

Play Kenji And Kumori Together Or Separately

The plot of Ninja Gaiden: Ragebound will weave between the stories of Kenji and Kumori, with each ninja getting their own unique stages.

The trailer also shows off how the two characters’ spirits will fuse seemingly early on in the story, giving the player access to both of their abilities at once to overcome the monsters blocking their path.

In this state, it looks the player will seemingly be mostly controlling Kenji, but it also appears there will be times when they can switch between Kenji and Kumori at will to fully make use of their unique benefits and traits, such as Kenji’s passive upgrades and Kumori Shadow Arts and special attacks.

These abilities will likely be important to master, assuming Ragebound carries ontheNinja Gaiden series’ reputation for punishing difficulty.
