Following the success of the Hot Wheels Let’s Race Netflix series, GameMill Entertainment has announced a new upcoming title to add to its roster. Featuring characters and vehicles from the children’s TV show, the game is aimed at an even younger audience than previous titles such as Hot Wheels Unleashed.

The game looks to bea spin-off based on the show, featuring iconic locations such as the Hot Wheels Ultimate Garage, but not interfering with any canon events from the series.

Set to launch on October 24th on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, PC and Nintendo Switch, the game will follow the six main characters from the series: Coop, Spark, Mac, Brights, Axle and Sidecar across 12 different ‘inspired’ tracks.

Vehicles such as the GT-Scorcher, Roger Dodger and Duck ‘n’ Roll will all be playable as the gang take on Professor Rearview’s various challenges - including that of a fire-breathing dragon.

A Whole New Hot Wheels Generation

Hot Wheels Let’s Race: Ultimate Speed will also feature five different game modes, includingfree races, speed trials and track building. Players will be able to earn ‘flame badges’ in order to unlock new features such as custom liveries and track parts.

Unfortunately, GameMill have ruled out online multiplayer and are sticking toa local four-player co-op alternative, though since it is a more family-oriented game with a younger target audience, that decision is probably for the best.

The Hot Wheels series, which started out originally as plastic physical toys, were an iconic part of early 2000s kids' culture, but remarkably they have retained their popularity even decades later. Now, the series has expanded into digital mediums such as the Netflix show anda number of impressive video games.

The series has seen plenty of success, particularly inthe Hot Wheels Unleashed series, which wasnominated for Best Sports/Racing Game at the 2021 Game Awards. While Hot Wheels Let’s Race: Ultimate Speed is clearly more infantile in its tone and presentation, it still looks like a promising entry for the franchise, one which will hopefully serve to introduce yet another new generation to its extreme orange-tracked racing.
