Jo Koy, who was the host of the 81st Golden Globes Awards, is under scrutiny for his opening monologue as many criticized it for being “unfunny.” Numerous Hollywood A-listers in attendance have already voiced dissatisfaction with his jokes and more. In fact, one of the writers of his monologues released a statement that is simply heartbreaking.

Jo Koy during one of his comedy sets

Jo Koy only managed to generate a ton of awkward moments during his opening monologue at the Golden Globes. Many celebrities found the jokes uncomfortable, as they often failed to hit the mark effectively. That’s not all he did in the performance, as he has more or less damaged his career because of just how dull and tasteless his entire comedy set turned out to be.

“I got this gig 10 days ago,”he told the audience.“You want a perfect monologue? I wrote some of these [jokes] andthey’re the ones you’re laughing at.”

Unsurprisingly, that disclaimer did little to ease the discomfort, as attendees groaned at nearly all of Jo Koy’s jokes. The overall reception has potentially harmed his reputation, and it seems unlikely that Jo Koy will be invited to perform his comedy sets at the Golden Globes again in the future.

It is evident that the whole set was a disaster from the start but that didn’t mean that Jo Koy had to bury the writer, who clearly wanted to do a good job after getting zero work during the SAG-AFTRA strikes for so long.

With that being said, many fans hope Jo Koy won’t be getting anywhere near an awards show anytime soon, especially not after him having the gall to blame his writers for his own failures, and lacking accountability of any sort.
