The upcoming 96th Academy Awards is all set to honor the best films of 2023. The nominations list is out and Christopher Nolan’sOppenheimerhas secured the crown with 13 nominations. The second place is secured by Emma Stone’sPoor Thingswith 11 nominations, three less than her record-breaking 14 nominations at the 89th Academy Awards forLa La Land(2016).

Martin Scorsese’sKillers of the Flower Moontook the third spot with 10 nominations. All eyes were on Greta Gerwig’sBarbie, which got 8 nominations including Best Picture. Many great films were released in 2023. Now, only time will tell which one will take home the Best Picture Academy Award this year.

Oppenheimergot 13 nominations at the upcoming Oscars
With the anticipation for the 96th Academy Awards at an all-time high, thelist of all nominationshas been released. As expected,Christopher Nolan‘sOppenheimertook the top spot with 13 nominations. The film’s star, Cillian Murphy has also been nominated for the Best Actor Award for his work in the film as well as Christopher Nolan for Best Director.
With just one more nomination,Oppenheimercould’ve tied withAll About Eve(1950),Titanic(1997), andLa La Land(2016) for having the most nominations by a single film. The last movie to reach this record,La La Land, won in six categories: Best Director, Best Actress for Emma Stone, Best Cinematography, Best Original Score, Best Original Song, and Best Production Design at the 89th Academy Awards.
