As pre-loading for the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 PlayStation Beta begins, users have discovered in-game settings which suggest a third-person camera mode will be available in-game.Players have also discovered a setting for a field of view slider, a highly requested console feature which has been available on the PC version of Call of Duty for many years. According toCharlieIntelon Twitter, based on the beta settings for Modern Warfare 2, the field of view slider will be available for both current and last-gen consoles.RELATED:Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Will Have AI “Across The Entire Game"Raven Software, the developers of Call of Duty: Warzone, had previously stated that they were aware of the community demand to include a field of view slider on consoles. Josh Bridge, the Game Director for Warzone, stated that a lot of the issues come down to last-gen consoles. As reported byCharlieIntel, Bridge said, “We don’t have the confidence we can maintain framerate on last-gen consoles with an FOV slider”. It’s unclear whether or not the recently discovered FOV slider for Modern Warfare 2 will also be available in Warzone 2.
The beta for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 will kick off on September 16th, exclusively for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 users. The first beta weekend will run until September 20th, followed by a second beta weekend for all users on September 22nd until September 26th. Prior to the game’s launch on October 28th, those who digitally pre-order any edition of Modern Warfare 2 will be able to play the Campaign from October 20th.
But before the beta kicks off tomorrow, a special COD: Next event is set to take place later today. The live stream will showcase a full multiplayer reveal for Modern Warfare 2, as well as the official reveal of Call of Duty: Warzone 2. Activision states that COD: Next will be “an era-defining franchise event showcasing the immediate future of Call of Duty”. The live stream kicks off today at 9:30AM PT / 12:30PM ET / 5:30PM BST, and can be watched on the officialCall of Duty YouTube channel.
