Meta is yet to comment on this report, but regarding how popular subscription services have become on consoles nowadays, it wouldn’t be surprising to see a similar approach in VR gaming as well. Meta’s Quest headsets are pretty popular among gamers thanks to their standalone nature, which allows players to run games or apps without needing a wired/wireless connection to any other device such as a PC or console.

In a recent report, Meta revealed that over 20 million VR headsets from the Quest series have been sold since the announcement of this new device back in 2019. So, it is safe to say that the company has a huge audience out there that could support a new subscription service. It is yet to be seen how much Quest Pass would cost per month if the aforementioned leaks turn out to be true. Currently, the base tier of PlayStation Plus costs $9.99 per month, which delivers up to three free games each month.

Last year, Meta launched a new Quest Pro VR headset which is aimed to be a multi-purpose device for both gaming and other VR usages, which makes it the most expensive VR headset produced by Meta at the time of writing. However, the company is already working on Meta Quest 3 to release later this year.

The new gaming VR headset is supposed to be much thinner and much more powerful compared toMeta Quest 2, but the price will also get slightly higher. The detailed specs of the Quest 3 are yet to be revealed, but it should be considered a direct competitor to Sony’sPlayStation VR2.
