Revealedlast year at gamescomOpening Night Live, Hangar 13’s latest entry in the Mafia franchise wasn’t titled Mafia 4, but Mafia: The Old Country. While it’s been mentioned that it will launch sometime this year, we now know exactly when thanks to a leak.
The release date leak comes from Steam, which means this is more than likely the real deal.

Mafia: The Old Country’s Release Date Set For August
The release date announcement was originally set for PAX East on May 8, but the game’sSteampage has posted it ahead of time.
Based on the post by 2K, there seems to be a dev panel scheduled at the event set for May 8 at 7 pm BST/2 pm EST/11 am PT. In it, developer Hangar 13 is set to “reveal new details about the game and offer a unique behind-the-scenes look at the past, present and future of this legendary franchise.”
The same message (which has since been amended), also states that Mafia: The Old Country will be available on July 25, 2025 for the PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC. Most likely, we’ll be getting new gameplay footage at PAX East, which would be capped by the release date announcement.
This means that Take-Two Interactive, the parent company of 2K Games, hasBorderlands 4,Mafia: The Old Country andGrand Theft Auto 6all releasing within months of each other – assuming none of the titles get delayed.

If you’re unfamiliar with the upcoming Mafia game, its story synopsis reads: “Uncover the origins of organized crime in Mafia: The Old Country, a gritty mob story set in the brutal underworld of 1900s Sicily. Fight to survive as Enzo Favara and prove your worth to the Cosa Nostra in this immersive third-person action-adventure set during a dangerous, unforgiving era. At this point, 2K should just formally announce it, since the info is out there anyway. But what do I know, I’m not a marketing specialist.
If Mafia: The Old Country does release in August, it means there’s a few months' space between this open-world action game and the juggernaut that this Grand Theft Auto 6. While Take-Two is still sayingit’ll be released in Fall 2025, we wouldn’t be surprised if it gets pushed back to 2026. I guess we’ll know more about that in the coming months.
