The God of Foreshadowing, Eiichiro Oda, has been known to hide the most important aspects ofOne Pieceas mysteries in the most subtle ways possible. Be it Gol D. Roger’s finding of the Laugh Tale or Shanks’ involvement with the World Government, theOne Piecemanga creator has foreshadowed some very crucial connections that fans eventually find out, much to their surprise.

One Piece has entered it’s final arc

However, the one connection or mystery that fans might have ignored is so insignificant that it cannot even be considered a viable moment in the story. This mystery is Luffy’s wink inOne Piecevolume 27, which was a part of the Skypiea arc. Although it is not something thatOne Piecefans would give much significance to,  a recent theory has proved that it might be extremely important to the narrative.

According to the theory, Luffy’s wink might have connected him to the Sky Islands, hinting that the Monkey family is also a part of the prominent Shandia tribe, which fans got to see during the Skypiea arc.

Luffy’s Wink inOne Piece

Ever since Luffy made his firstOne Pieceappearance in a barrel, the one thing that fans have never seen him do is wink at someone or just wink in general, except for one single moment. This moment was on the cover ofOne Piecevolume 27, titled “Overture.” It is probably one of the most analyzedOne Piececovers in history.

This is because not only does it capture one of the most unique moments of Luffy winking, but it also shows Luffy wearing a pair of wings on his back. This has given rise to multiple theories, including the latest one by GrandLineReview on YouTube, which states that Luffy is from the sky.

According to the theory, Luffy’s winking connects him to the Jaya Islands, which are located in the first half of the Grand Line and was one of the most important aspects of the overall Sky Island storyline.

It was once shaped like a skull and was much larger than it is now. Luffy’s winking makes him look like the full Jaya island’s skull with the missing left eye. It also strengthenshis relations with the people from this island, the Shandia tribe.

Luffy Might Be From The Sky

The theory states it was initially believed that Luffy’s wink is Oda’s way of hinting towards the full Jaya island, with his one opened eye representing the Golden City of Shandora. However, there is also a major possibility that Oda might have hidden Luffy’s connection to the people of the Sky Islands.

Additionally,Eiichiro Odagiving Luffy wings along with his mysterious wink makes him look like a part of the Shandia tribe. While there is an argument about the Monkey family not having original wings to prove the connection, the fact that Oda has introduced many other characters from the Sky Islands without wings speaks for itself.
