Like most resources in the game, the only way to find Lava Caves is to go spelunking. Put on your hiking boots and grab your most powerful weapons because the journey is not going to be easy. Having aGlideralso helps as it allows you to see the map from an aerial view. Makes the search much easier.
How To Find Lava Caves
Lava Caves can be found in the Dry Valley(Desert biome). Finding them is the same as any other cave: you have to look for them. But the Dry Valley has two types of caves: Lava Caves and regular Caves. They look almost identical from the outside and share the same distinctive look all other caves in the game possess, helping them blend into the environment.
From the outside, it’shard to tell the differencebetween a Lava Cave and a regular cave of the Dry Valley, but luckily, there aretwo indicatorsto look out for:
If you pass a regular cave in the overworld, it automatically gets marked on the map as a cave with a white cave icon. For Lava Caves, this isn’t the case. No matter how many times you pass by them or even enter one, they will never be marked on the map.
Since this is the case, whenever you find a Lava Cave in the Dry Valley, always remember toplace a map marker. You can find the map marker in Builds under the Utility section.
How To Survive Lava Caves
If you’ve been exploring the Dry Valley, chances are you’ve some sort ofheat resistanceto counteract the desert’s environment. The Lava Caves are even hotter. If a regular Snowberry was enough to deal with the midday sun in the Dry Valley, even a Snowberry Milkshake is not enough (on its own) to survive inside a Lava Cave.
The easiest way to survive the heat is by equippingthree Cool-Headed Charmsthat can be made at the Crafting Bench. Combined, three Cool-Headed Charms not only give you enough heat resistance to handle the inside of a Lava Cave, they also give you plenty ofextra heartsto increase your health pool.
