Light Brick Studio’sLego Builder’s Journeyis set to release on Steam and Nintendo Switch later this month.
The gameis the winner of Best Mobile Game of 2020 by the Golden Joystick awards, in addition to SPILPRISEN’s game for Best Visuals and Audio. The release trailer at E3 showcased an enhanced version of the game. Improved by PC ray tracing and compatibility with Nvidia DLSS/RTX, the game revealed realistic tiny diorama sets. Lego Builder’s Journey is aimed at those who enjoy the aesthetics of Maquette and similar puzzle games, in addition to the calming mindfulness of games likeJourney,Animal CrossingandHarvest Moon.
The trailer also revealed thatLego Builder’s Journeyis a far cry from the usual Lego video games. Previous entries are filled with company IPs such as your Potters and Batmen that were focused more on open world and slapstick comedy. This game on the other hand gives off“Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker”vibes, focused on enjoying each level’s intricate design, whilst taking the time to achieve simple yet rewarding goals.
Will there be any changes in gameplay on other platforms?
While there aren’t any wholesale changes to the gameplay, players won’t have to rely on a touchscreen to manipulate bricks. In fact, Switch users will be able to use their Joy-Cons, offering Joy-Con motion controls to amplify the game’s interactivity. The Switch also offers touch screen options when in portable mode. PC gamers will also have a range of options, either using a controller, mouse, or keyboard to suit anyone’s style of play.

The game is currently available onApple arcade.
