Legocontinues to grow its connections to the video game industry. Last time they did a special standalone release, it wastheir second Horizon set, based on the Lego Horizon Adventures game.
While this next outing remains kid-friendly, it’s for something much older - and they’ll be working with a totally different company.

Nintendo’s Game Boyis the subject of this new set, and it’s set for release sometime inOctober of this year.
Nintendo announced the collaboration with a post on X, featuring something of a teaser trailer for the project.

The teaser doesn’t show any images of the set - presumably, it still needs to be designed - but we are shown a few of the parts likely to be used in its construction.
Of them, we see a few small tiles, two of which seem perfectly suited to represent buttons. But the big one, a tall pole with a single stud on top, indicates that Lego will be following a modern, and now-standardized technique in this build.

Metal Gear Solid BTS Footage Shows Hideo Kojima Designing Maps And Camera Angles With Lego
Hideo Kojima’s love for Lego actually aided the development of Metal Gear Solid.
In an effort to keep surfaces smooth, Lego will almost certainly be using a “studs not on top” style, using the side of the pole to create a large, smooth surface without the use of tiles.

The extent of Nintendo’s involvement in the project is not known, but likely minimal.
Lego Continues To Build Relationships With Game Studios
The keen-eyed may have already noticed that this isn’t Lego’s first time releasing a set of a game console. Cashing in on some nostalgia, Lego has alreadyreleased an Atari 2600 set.
Lego has always been at least adjacent to video games, but back in the day it was largely contained to games made by Lego themselves.
While a bit slow on the uptick, as Mega Bloks had already beat them to the punch, Lego has since fully embraced the videogame world. They’ve released entire lines of sets forOverwatch,Minecraft, and the list just doesn’t stop growing.
Lego appears to be targeting a healthy mix of modern and nostalgic products, with their only real hangup being games or products that aren’t quite so kid-friendly.
But with a stipulation like that, they’ll have no trouble with Nintendo.
Fans of the set will have to wait a while for proper release images and a final date, but for now, the Lego Game Boy is on the way.
