When you’re playing a punishing game that makes use of various survival elements, the phrase ‘to fail to prepare is to prepare to fail’ becomes a mantra to live by.
These games often give you enough rope to hang yourself, and if you don’t have certain items to help you out of a jam, you’re as good as dead.Kingdom Come Deliverance 2is very much like this and will punish you for not stocking up on key items.

Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 Script The Longest In Game History Claims Director
Kingdom Come Deliverance 2’s script is said to be the longest in game history according to its director.
There are a wealth of items in this game that will prove useful over the course of your run. However, most of these will be out of reach until you are some ways through the game.

However, there are some great items to stockpile early, and because I want you to be the best Henry of Skalitz you can possibly be, I’m going to list them right now.
10Savior Schnapps
Essential For Dropping A Save
In the early stages of KCD2 you’ll constantly run into situations where doing something risky just isn’t worth dying and losing a chunk of progress.
Because, as you may know, KCD doesn’t let you drop a save unless you progress a quest, sleep in an owner bed, or have a specific item. That item is called Savior Schnapps, and you’ll want to gather up as much of it as possible.

you may do this in many ways. You can either purchase it from merchants, earn it for completing select quests or acquire it when looting. Or, if you’re a good alchemist, you can brew the save state nectar yourself.
Either way, you’ll always want to have a couple on hand just in case something tricky comes along and you want a safety net in case things go wrong.

9Marigold Decoction
A Trusty Health Potion
We’re doubling down with potions and this one is equally as important.MarigoldDecoction in KCD2 is essentially the equivalent of a big red health vial in a fantasy RPG, allowing you to recoup some of your health, albeit very slowly.
When out on quests, you’ll likely have no means of sleeping to regain health, and traveling back to town might not be an option.

So, having this potion in your pocket can be a literal lifesaver, allowing you to recuperate and get to a safe location to lay your weary head, drop a safe, and restock before heading out on your next quest.
This potion can be purchased from most herbswoman and apothecaries. And, as you might have guessed, as soon as you learn the recipe for this one, you’ll be able to brew a steady supply yourself.
8Lockpicks
Breaking (Lockpicks) And Entering
In KCD2, making money in the early game is tough. So, there’s no shame in embracing the dark arts to generate a little bit of cash flow. In fact, I found that stealing items was the most lucrative money-maker early on.
However, the NPCs of Bohemia aren’t idiots, and they tend to lock their valuables in chests, meaning you’ll only be able to access these goods if you’re a good locksmith.
Spoilers, you won’t be. And that’s why you’ll need to have loads of lockpicks on hand as you work toward becoming a master thief.
8 Most Annoying NPCs Everybody Immediately Kills
From Adoring fan to Patches, here are the most annoying NPCs to kill without any guilt.
They tend to be pretty inexpensive and available from most traders and Innkeepers. So, be sure to keep some on your person just in case a fine opportunity to make use of your five finger discount presents itself.
Maintenance On The Go
At a glance, you might assume that the various kits you’ll find within the game are nothing more than miscellaneous items. However, they are actually utility items that can be used to repair different types of equipment.
Armorer kits can be used to repair armor, cobbler kits can be used to fit footwear, blacksmith kits can be used to repair weapons, and so on.
You can often make these repairs yourself if you have the materials, or the cash, but these kits allow you to improve the item’s condition on the go, which can be invaluable if something breaks in battle.
They’re Bleeding Important
Having painkiller brews and Marigold Decoction is great for damage negation and healing. But, this will all be for nothing if you are still pissing blood like a leaky faucet.
In battle, if someone gets you with a slash of their blade, chances are that you will have bleeding damage, and you will likely lose HP until you eventually bleed out unless you apply pressure to that wound.
That’s where bandages come into play. You’ll usually want to have anywhere from five to ten on you at all times, as it will usually take multiple to treat a single wound.
The best alternative medical advice I can offer is don’t put yourself in a position where you’ll end up bleeding. But, if you insist on roughhousing, then take some bandages along with you.
5Cooked/Dried Food
A Better Shelf Life
In KCD2, the player needs to control their sleep and nourishment meters, making this game as much of a life simulation as it is a medieval RPG. Sleep isn’t too hard to manage as Henry can stay awake for quite a while without passing out.
However, Henry does need to eat rather frequently to avoid debuffs and eventually starving. Stuffing yourself at a nearby pot of food before heading out helps quell this issue, but occasionally you’ll be in the middle of nowhere and need some grub.
The best food to take with you is cooked or dried items, as these have a much longer shelf life. Eating old, stale, and rotten food will inevitably lead to food poisoning, and no one wants that. So, be sure to pack a lunch before you set off on any grand adventure.
4Skill Books
I Didn’t Know You Could Read
This one is arguably a little outside of an early-game player’s price range. However, if you’re flush with cash, this is something you’ll want to consider.
Skill books in this game work somewhat like those in Skyrim, in the sense that, if you read them, a skill related to the contents of the book is improved. Which is something that can prove very valuable due to the perks that come with each leveled skill.
These books can be bought from merchants or found by looting, and you’ll want to have a couple on you when exploring. As you may find that in moments when you’ll be waiting around and killing time, that reading a skill book would be a much more productive use of this time.
You will need to dedicate a decent amount of hours to fully finish a book, but the trade-off tends to be worth it. Then, once you’re done with them, they tend to resell for a pretty penny, too.
3Lion Perfume
Hear Me Roar
The third and final potion, which is technically a perfume, that I will mention on this list is a bit more of a rare one, but one that can prove invaluable when trying to persuade, influence, and infatuate people.
Lion is a perfume that improves your charisma, which is often the factor that will determine whether you will pass a particular skill check or not.
So, one quick splash of this perfume, and you might find that a certain conversational blunder might go in your favor. This may allow you to progress quests easier, gain more lucrative rewards, or perhaps convince a guard not to throw you in the pillory.
2Dice & Badges
Come On, Snake Eyes
This one is dependent on how deep you get into KCD2’s in-world mini-game. Dice is a fun little distraction and a really good way to make money if you master the art of the roll, and have a decent build to ensure consistent success. However, you can’t do this unless you have the Badges and Dice to create this optimum setup.
You’ll often find that traders stock dice and badges, and bandits often have them on their person, too. These are great items to stockpile as these die and badges have unique effects that just might be your ticket to hustling everyone in the local tavern out of all their Gloschen.
If you’re not someone who is all that fussed with this mini-game, then pay no mind. But if you have a penchant for ye olde gambling, then you’ll want to have options when setting your wagers.
1Torch/Spade
Light The Way, Dig A Hole
Lastly, these are not items that you need to stockpile, but rather items that you should always have one of in your person.
Throughout KCD2’s run, there will be moments where you are caught miles away from town in some dark forest and you can’t tell up from down. In these moments, a torch is near-essential, otherwise you’ll just have to wait there like a dope until morning.
Plus, if you don’t have a torch when you walk around town at night, the guards can arrest you for looking shifty. So, it just makes sense to have one to hand.
Then as for a spade, this one is less essential, but it might surprise you just how many times you need to dig up an unmarked grave or bury a body. So it’s best just to keep one handy.
