Jujutsu Kaisenseason two begins with Gojo’s Past arc. This shows many characters who have already been in the show but in their younger years when they were students of Jujutsu High themselves.

The main focus of the season is Gojo and Geto’s relationship, but we also see Kento Nanami and Yu Haibara and how the events of this arc make Nanami into who we meet in season 1. While almost everyone else is accounted for in season one, why don’t we know anything about Yu Haibara?
Who Is Yu Haibara
Only a little bit is known about Yu throughout the events of Jujutsu Kaisen. In Gojo’s Past Arc, he is theother first-year and close friend of Kento Nanamidue to them being the only first years. Yu has avery optimistic personalitydespite the Jujutsu world and is often the polar opposite of Nanami’s monotone attitude.

Wedon’t get to see any of Yu’sCursed Techniquesor abilities, and his full potential is unknown. While it is not directly stated, his abilities are somewhere around grade 2. Cursed Energy iscreated from negative emotions, which is a sharp contrast to Yu’s personality,meaning he may not have been the strongest sorcerer leading to his grim fate.
What Happens To Yu Haibara
Yu Haibara makes an appearance in Gojo’s Past Arc but isnowhere to be seen in the present timeline. About a year after the past arc, Yu goes on a mission and iskilled by a curse. Due to him and Kento Nanami being the only first years, they were very close, andYu’s death greatly impacted Nanami.Yu’s joyful attitude and death showed Nanami just how ruthless the Jujutsu world is, as even the most kindhearted sorcerers are killed. Thisultimately leads to Nanami’s cold attitudeand shapes him into the man he is.
Geto was also greatly effected by Yu’s positive attitudeduring their time together at Jujutsu High.Geto always had a negative attitude towards the weak and cruel Jujutsu world, often debating his ideals with Gojo. After meeting Yu, his positive attitude kept Geto in Jujutsu High, as Geto was inspired Yu’s reasons for wanting to fight and protect others. Yu’s death wasanother major factor that pushed Geto down his evil path.
