Jujutsu Kaisenis one of the top-notch new-gen anime in the shonen genre and it’s all the rage for the right reasons. From its popularity to its animation, it’s remarkable, in most aspects.

While Season 2 was a total banger, it’s the third season fans await the most. With the manga’s closure, it would be nothing short of iconic. However, most fans are overlooking a major issue in this.
In their response to the Culling Game’s visual, X users negated a massive issue about the series. While there’s reticence regarding the upcoming Culling Game arc, MAPPA’s controversies and records are something that needs to be brought forth.

Fans respond toJujutsu Kaisen’sCulling Game visual
Jujutsu Kaisenis a complete treat in terms of its visuals, storyline, and unique power system. Gege Akutami indeed left no stone unturned in making it a literary masterpiece. From characters to arcs, it is riveting in every possible way.
Gege’s use of violence and dark elements in his narrative renders a certain sense of awe in the series. The blend of supernatural aspects with modernity is something that we have seen in Tite Kubo’sBleachbefore. But the mangaka takes it up a notch through his exploration of death, loss, and darkness.

One of the perfect examples of this is the Culling Games Arc. Not only did it outline gore but it exemplified horror in every sense. From Tsumiki’s death to Gojo’s fate, the arc was truly devastating for most fans and a clear example of this is theZenin Clan massacre.
While blood and gore are ever-present, this put an end to years and decades of tyranny. With Maki Zenin in the driving seat now, the arc would be nothing short of legendary. Fans, however, feel otherwise.

While their disappointment seems valid, most fans tend to overlook the subtleties. This is true with MAPPA’s role in the delay along with its controversial past. In their criticism of the delay, fans mustn’t negate the studio’s involvement in unethical practices.
MAPPA and its history of controversies
As one of the top-tier animation giants,MAPPAhas given some brilliant anime. Be itAttack on TitanorChainsaw Man, it has a pool of talented artists and animators. But there most certainly is a caveat to that.
The studio is ridden with controversies regarding its mistreatment of the staff. From overworking to underpayment, it isn’t exempt from censure. In the last few months, it has lost credibility due to its brutal treatment of workers.
Vincent Chansard, who animated the iconic fight scenes forOne Pieceevenleft MAPPAamong all this mess. His joining Toei Animation stemmed from his firsthand experience of the brutalities and overworking. But this isn’t the first time the studio mistreated its workers.
Many a time, the animators and staff spoke up against the harsh realities and brutal conditions. The long, overworked, and underpaid hours are just the crux of the matter. Considering the frequent changes in designs and trajectories, it is bound to get frustrating for every worker in the studio.
MAPPA, Stand Proud: Even Jujutsu Kaisen Fans Know the Anime Made a Major Character Infinitely Better Than Gege Akatumi’s Manga
Often we talk about the brutalities in the manga industry while ignoring the plight of animators. Like mangaka, their work is detrimental to their health in the long run. And while Culling Game Arc seems promising, it shouldn’t come at the cost of mistreatment and exploitation of animators.
Jujutsu Kaisenis available for streaming on Crunchyroll. The manga is available for reading on Viz Media.
