A lot of successful movies and series have been released in recent years that were based on video games. The two-time Academy Award winner, Cate Blanchett has also been recently associated with a similar project,Borderlands,in which she will be portraying the lead role of a legendary thief, Lilith.
The director ofBorderlands, Eli Roth opens up about working with Cate Blanchett
Cate Blanchettis one of the most established actresses in the industry. Although the Australian actress lives more of a low-key life, she has been making a lot of headlines recently as she is all set to appear as a famous outlaw, Lilith inBorderlands,which is based on a video game of the same name.
Borderlandswas first announced almost 9 years ago in 2015 but due to internal troubles, the production of the movie did not start for years. In the year 2020, Eli Roth was chosen as the director of the movie and Cate Blanchett was announced as the lead actress.
Roth first collaborated with Blanchett in the 2018 fantasy movie,The House With a Clock in Its Walls.When it was announced that the actress would portray the role of Lilith in the movie,Borderlands,Eli Roth issued a statement praising Blanchett. She said,
“I’m so lucky to have the amazing Cate Blanchett starring in ‘Borderlands.’ We had the most incredible collaboration together on ‘The House With a Clock in Its Walls,’ and I believe there’s nothing she can’t do. Although most of the fans are impressed by Cate Blanchett’s first look as Lilith, some did not see eye to eye on the matter and went on to mention that the actress is now too old to portray the character to perfection.
Borderlandsis all set to be released later this year on June 25, 2025.
