In an interview withMoviefone,Frank Grillo, who is known for portraying Crossbones in the MCU, sat down for a chat to talk about his upcoming film. When the actor was asked about the inspiration behind his character, Grillo went on to reveal that it was Sylvester Stallone’s role of Rocky that was a major inspiration for him!
“The screenplay was a solid C+ when I first read it. It was okay, but it was a home run for me. I knew I could knock this one out of the park, so I was not concerned with that. I wanted to get the script to a place where it made sense, and it worked.”

He further continued,
“Look, my buddy Stallone did a movie called ‘Rambo,’ and it’s that guy that I love. It’s that exact kind of character. I’m not comparing myself to the great Sylvester Stallone, but it’s that world.”

As the interview further continued,Frank Grilloseemed to be a bit too honest for his own good. Blaming Kevin Feige and the Russo Brothers, the actor stated that they blew it [the MCU] and that he prefers James Gunn’s DCU more!

Voicing a character in the upcoming DCU seriesCreature Commandos,Grillo, who has worked both in the MCU and the DCU was asked about his experience. Recalling the moments, Grillo seemed to have uttered a statement that might not sit well with the world,
“Yes. I recorded with (David) Harbour and I may have recorded with Maria (Bakalova). But it’s great. I love James Gunn and Peter Safran and what they’re doing at DC and for the DCU, and these characters are living in all their movies. I’m going to be around for a while, and I wish I could tell you what I have coming up with them, but I can’t.”

He continued,
“But it’s exciting. I was just with the RussoBrothers, Kevin Feige and Lou D’Esposito and it’s kind of like, ‘I miss those guys, but you blew it. Now we’re going over here.'”

Grillo also stated that the series was allegedly set to premier at the end of Summer of 2024 or at the beginning of the fall so we have a rough estimate for the release ofCreature Commandos.As for Frank Grillo’s 2024 film,Lights Outis slated for a release date of 17 June 2025 in theaters across the U.S.
