MarvelStudios’What If…?series has been a fan-favorite show since its releaseandthe positive critical reviews prove how much it has been a breath of fresh air for fans ever since the onslaught of the superhero fatigue.

After the success ofX-Men ’97, Head of TV, Streaming, and Animation Brad Winderbaum confirmed that Season 3 ofWhat If…?could be the next Marvel Animation show on deck. However, there’s a hint that it could also be the final installment.
What If…?Season 3 Might Be The Last Chapter
During an interview viaComic Book, Marvel’s very ownBrad Winderbaumrevealed thatWhat If…?Season 3 might come up next in the slot. He also mentioned something that teased the show’s conclusion.
What If…? Season Three is — that might be the one that comes out next, in terms of animation. That is the culmination of a trilogy. We’re actually close to completing that one.

Winderbaum shared fans can expect The Watcher to present himself as “uncaring, and cold, and just an observer,” although he cares for everybody. The Marvel TV head also said that it “feels like you’ve gone through this amazing emotional experience with Uatu.” All of these and more will be on full display in Season 3.
Marvel Might Finally be Getting Back on its Feet as What If… Season 2 Grabs the Critics’ Attention in the Best Possible Way
Director Bryan Andrews previously shared his excitement for the third installment. He claimed that “there’s no way people can guess what’s coming” and that they tried to push the genre a bit in this one. He further explained viaMarvel:
I’m super excited about some of the ones that are coming up. There are a few that are just fantastic. I think everyone’s going to nerd out because we get to push. And one of them’s going to sell a lot of toys.

This is surely a great way to advertise the show as fans would definitely want to collect merchandise of their beloved characters. Apart from this, the director also teased that Season 3 will be a continuation for characters all the way from Season 1. He would not say which one but “that one’s turning out to be quite hilarious,” he quipped.
Fans Aren’t Thrilled With The LatestWhat If…?Series Report
While Brad Winderbaum’s news of a possible third season ofWhat If…?brought joy to many fans, some were extremely disappointed at the hint that it’s going to be the final one. As the Marvel head mentioned, it is “the culmination of a trilogy” which simply means the story might end in Season 3.
This is not yet confirmed, but the public already has a negative reaction to it. Check out their tweets below:

What If…? Should NOT be a trilogy. It’s quite literally ENDLESS.
This show should have 20/30 episode seasons, different art styles for each episode, LONGER RUNTIME.

Come on Marvel, this is such a waste of potential to end at a THIRD seasonhttps://t.co/ZnP1CSaUdI
