The game which was first released in 2009 in Japan eventually became a commercial and critical success in the West.Demon’s Soulswon multiple awards after receiving positive reviews for its challenging combat and captivating gameplay.

This masterpiece by Miyazaki is the one that introduced players to difficult gameplay without much of a handholding for them. Hidetaka Miyazaki talks aboutDemon’s Soulsconnection withDark Souls
Since the firstDark Soulsgame came out two years after the release ofDemon’s Souls, there are many who consider theDark Soulsseries to be the sequel toDemon’s Souls. This is mostly because theDark Soulsseries takes inspiration fromDemon’s Souls, and they both come with difficult gameplay, have similar fighting mechanics and a leveling-up system.
Moreover, over the years sinceDemon’s Soulsofficially didn’t get a sequel fans were convinced thatDark Souls 1,Dark Souls 2, andDark Souls 3were the sequels. However, game directorHidetaka Miyazakiin an interview from 2011 clearly spoke about the connection between both of his games.

During theinterview, Miyazaki was asked whether he would describeDark Soulsas a sequel toDemon’s Souls, or more of a spiritual successor. To this, he replied,“Dark Souls is not a sequel to Demon’s Souls by any means”.
He also added that players will find similarities in their gameplay as both of the games have been developed by the same team. Miyazaki also replied to a question regarding both games sharing the same universe by saying

It’s a totally new game with similar concepts

Moreover, despite sharing some similarities, theDark Soulsseries has its own set of differences withDemon’s Souls. One of the major differences that sets both of these games apart is their approaches to the boss battles. InDemon’s Souls, the bosses come with weaknesses that the players can exploit, however, this is not the same with theDark Soulsseries.
Will fans ever get to seeDemon’s Souls 2?
Demon’s Soulswas released more than a decade ago, and it is natural that fans want to see the cult classic game getting a sequel. Moreover, Miyazaki has made it clear thatDark Soulsis not a sequel toDemon’s Soulsand they do not share a similar universe. Therefore, this means that both the games are different and thatDemon’s Soulsshould get its own sequel.
All of this means that down the lineDemon’s Soulsfans might get to see a sequel if Miyazaki is willing to make one. Additionally, he had previously during aninterviewwith Game Informer stated that, most of the decision on whetherDemon’s Soulswill get a sequel or a remaster is with Sony.

“That’s Unprecedented in Japan. It’s Inspiring.”: Hidetaka Miyazaki’s Success Story Has as Much To Do with Elden Ring as It Does Demon’s Souls
Demon’s Souls2 is possible despite being highly improbable. This is because during the same interview with Game Informer Miyazaki stated that a sequel or a remaster is possible according to him but he is not personally interested in making one.
