Marvel Studios has been rumored to be currently looking to getThor 5off the ground. Hemsworth has talked about how the film needs to take a distinct and separate direction from what audiences experience inRagnarokandLove and Thunder, the latter of which has turned fans off of the franchise.

As rumors and leaks aroundThor 5pick up more steam, a slew of directors have expressed interest in directing the film, with Chris Hemsworth’s latest collaborator also throwing his hat into the ring. George Miller directed the MCU alum inFuriosa: A Mad Max Story, and is keen on working with the actor again, includingThor 5.
The director will have his fair share of Thor plots to adapt into the film, but there is one story that the director can do justice to, which will not only bring a great change of pace for the character but could also redeem a criminally butchered antagonist in the MCU

George Miller could do War of the Realms, redeem Malekith in the MCU
Thor: The Dark Worldactually had a great premise, but was bungled by a less-than-satisfactory execution, one that really hurt it in theatres and amount the general audiences. Malekith the Accursed is one of the more recognizable villains in Thor’s rogue’s gallery, sharing the privilege with the likes of Loki, Cull, and Surtr. However, the film failed to do him or his dark elf army justice, which caused the film to be panned by audiences and critics alike.
“They just can’t settle on a direction”: Thor 5 Rumored Update Makes Another Change to Chris Hemsworth’s God of Thunder That’s Honestly Disrespectful Now
George Miller, speaking toComicbook.com, expressedhis interest in directingThor 5, which would beChris Hemsworth‘s fifth solo film in the MCU and an honor that no other hero has achieved in the franchise. He said:
“I would work with Chris on anything. I really would. He’s a wonderful actor. He’s got the full range of all the skills”

Malekith the Accursed would not be the first villain who was redeemed in the MCU, as a similar approach was taken with The Mandarin after the villain failed to wow audiences inIron Man 3. Malekith could take a similar approach inThor 5and be redeemed as an actual threat.
Fans would love to see Geroge Miller makeThor 5
As the news hit the internet that Geroge Miller is interested in makingThor 5with Chris Hemsworth, fans took to X to discuss what a grand idea this is, focusing on how Miller’s aesthetic would suit Hemsworth’s want for a new direction inThor 5.
I do enjoy how Thor movie have evolved over the 4 films and so if we keep with that theme, I would love to see George Miller’s style of directing tackling a Thor film. Intensity wouldn’t even describe it lol 😆

It can still have its lightheartedness in places. But full on wackadoo comedy? No thanks. Let’s get these Greek gods up in here, throw in some light elves, some demons, and beta Ray bill, and let Miller cook us up some fun.

If Feige gives him free reign to do what he wants to do, I’m all for it. It will be the second MCU film that gets nominated for Best Picture after Black Panther.

And they’ve got the perfect platform for it too: fatherhood.

George Miller’s style of filmmaking could suit a tone change for Thor, which could be a slightly grittier film, but still retain the funny elements that madeRagnarokso great. Should Kevin Feige and Marvel Studios allow the director to make the creative choices that he needs to make it a good film,Thor 5under the direction of George Miller could redeem the IP and make a case for more films for the character or his successor.
