Gareth Edwards’Jurassic World Rebirthis promising a dinosaur nightmare after decades of reptilian mediocrity. Neither the billion dollarJurassicfranchise, nor people’s obsession with it is new. As such, people have mostly gotten used to the unfriendly neighborhood lizard monsters.

Gareth Edwards' Jurassic World Rebirth is set to terrify the audience

To hike up their street cred, and restore the franchise to its former glory, director Gareth Edwards is bringing in all the ammo possible for a nightmare-inducing experience for the upcoming movie.

To pile up on it, they are adapting one terrifying scene from the late Michael Crichton’s book, that even Steven Spielberg vetoed for his 1993 movie.

Gareth Edwards is coming in full force to terrify the audience withJurassic World Rebirth

Michael Crichton’s books were the original source material for the giganticJurassic Worldfranchise’s humongous monsters. However, there were many scenes that didn’t see the light of the day in previous movies.

The reason behind that was not only the lack of technological development needed for the visual effects, but also because some of them were too graphic.

However, the entire world has seen some really terrifying sights by now. As such, seeing fictional monsters devouring people sounds like the same old record playing in the background. Or so the audience might believe.

According to a recent report byVanity Fair, they couldn’t be more wrong about it. The entireJurassic World Rebirthcrew appeared for an interview with the outlet ahead of the movie’s trailer release.

This included Gareth Edwards, producer Frank Marshall, and starsScarlett Johansson,Mahershala Ali, as well asJonathan Bailey. Marshall noted that the movie has tried to touch upon“everything scary”that made the franchise so popular originally. Edwards elaborated the point with his own two cents.

When you make a creature, you get a big, massive pot and you pour in your favorite monsters from other films and books.

The end result of this is supposedly some messed-up looking mutated monsters that will hunt the crew led by Johansson who go in search for these monsters in an altruistic effort to save humanity from heart diseases.

What makes their situation even more terrifying, though, is a particular scene from Crichton’s 1990 book that gave birth to the franchise. The scene depicts Dr. Grant and his two children trying to cross a lagoon on a raft without disturbing a snoozing T-Rex.

Inevitably, they don’t succeed and the monster starts chasing them through the water. At first by walking through the lagoon with its feet reaching the ground and its chest above the water, and then swimming through it to reach its prey. The description in theJurassic Parkbook goes,

Moments later only the very top of the head—the eyes and nostrils—protruded above the surface. By then it looked like a crocodile, and it swam like a crocodile, swinging its big tail back and forth, so the water churned behind it.

Gareth Edwardsfurther noted that what will make the entire concept successful will be the audience’s primal fear. The movie will supposedly rile up people’s fight or flight instincts that lie deep within, by making them feel hunted by the monsters on screen.

Fans are excited for Gareth Edwards’Jurassic World Rebirth

While people love a good monster blockbuster any day, theJurassic Worldfranchise holds deep nostalgia for many. A lot of fans grew up watching these movies, and this new adventure is obviously demanding that that old itch be scratched.

That’s what I got from the teaser trailer. It sounded terrifying.

That’s good. The ‘World’ trilogy went to hard into ‘adventure’ that there rarely felt like there was palpable fear like you saw in the T-Rex or Raptor sequences of the OG Jurassic Park

So we’re going back to actual horror??? Sign me the fuck up. I’m hype
