When Marvel Studios announced that they would be making a film on Marvel’s First Family, fans couldn’t be more excited. After a few failed attempts at bringing them to life the Marvel Cinematic Universe ignited fans’ hope that justice will finally be done to the fan-favorite characters. However, after Pedro Pascal was cast as Mister Fantastic a.k.a. Reed Richards, fans were a bit disappointed.
And when Rahul Kohli, the top choice for fans to play Reed Richards, talked about not getting the role, fans were infuriated. After all, the man looks strikingly similar to the comic book character. Things got so out of hand that Rahul Kohli himself had to address the situation and apologize for allowing things to blow out of proportion.
What Did Rahul Kohli Say About Mr. Fantastic?
During his appearance on theSalaam Nerdspodcast,Rahul Kohlirevealed that he was amongst the actors who didn’t get to bring Reed Richards to life for the MCU.
Fans frequently mentioned Kohli’s name whenever they revealed their fan-casting for the film. They saw the resemblance between the actor and the character and even if there were a few flaws, they weren’t anything a little make-up couldn’t fix.

Yeah, I don’t know if I’m allowed to talk about it but I didn’t get it, is the important thing. But on good days, I see the Constantine. It will flare up once and again. And, I love all of them. On good days, you’re like, ‘Man, I’m wanted!’ People really want to see. You’re the guy that people will shout out for anything…
…On bad days, ‘It’s a reminder that you’re not the guy. You’re not there. These are the roles you’ll never get.’ So, it’s sweet and it’s perspective. It’s how you feel about yourself.

Clearly, Kohli wasn’t aware that things would be blown out of proportion and that his comments would stir up such a frenzy amongst the fans. It was time to do some much-needed damage control.

The actor took to hisInstagramwhere he clarified what he actually meant by his comments on theSalaam Nerdpodcast. He stated that while he was not going to address it, he has to since things have gotten out of control. Kohli then explained that by his comments, he didn’t mean that he was in the running to play Reed Richards or that he lost the role to Pascal.
He added that he was simply trying to make a point about fan-casting and mental health.
F-cking hell, this is being blown way out of proportion. I wasn’t gonna address it but I guess I have to now. I said during a podcast ‘I didn’t get it.’ I didn’t say I was in the running or I lost to Pedro Pascal or I was being considered or close to being in it. I just didn’t get it and it was a part of a larger point about fan-casting and mental health.
He then went on to talk about Pedro and stated that he couldn’t think of a better person to play Mr. Fantastic and that he wasn’t in his league to start with.
As for the role, Pedro is one of my favorite actors out there, a lovely person, and I can’t think of a better actor to play Reed. We were never ‘up against each other,’ I was never even in his league to begin with. I’m stoked for him and can’t wait to watch! Apologies everyone, lesson learned.

Well, there you have it. The actor had to take time out of his busy schedule to clarify his words just so he could do some damage control. Hopefully, Kohli was able to clear things out this time!
