Paris Jackson has become quite a talked-about figure, even outside of her father, Michael Jackson’s success. Following in her father’s footsteps, she has also entered the music industry, having signed a deal with Republic Records in 2020 and having a dedicated fanbase that follows her work.

On top of her personal life, she has also been very vocal about her personal life. At one point, the singer talked about her sexuality and her father’s thoughts on it. She confessed that her father seemed to know that she was queer long before she knew herself.
She also talked about labeling herself, and her thoughts on the same may confuse some.

Michael Jackson Knew That Paris Jackson Was Queer
WhenMichael Jacksonpassed away, Paris Jackson was only eleven years old. However, despite her young age, the singer seems to remember her father knowing something about her sexuality long before she did. In an episode ofUnfiltered: Paris Jackson & Gabriel Glenn, she talked about her relationship with her father in this regard, and even she was surprised by his foresight.
The singer mentioned that when she was quite young, her father very quickly caught on that she was not straight. She hypothesized that he must have felt some energy from her that made him think that she was queer. Her reasoning for believing this was because he would frequently tease her for it.

My dad caught on pretty quick…I think he just felt the energy and he would like kind of tease me the same way that he would tease my brothers, like ‘Oh, you got yourself a girlfriend.’

She used some examples, mentioning that instead of saying that she would have a boyfriend in the future, he would use the word ‘girlfriend,’ the same way that he did for the rest of his children.
I’m very lucky to have that, especially so young — I think I was like 8 or 9…Not many children have that experience.

While many may be surprised by this, she finds it to be deeply heartwarming. She mentioned that now that he is gone and she has figured out that part of herself, she found great comfort in knowing that he was supportive of her choice long before even she knew that she wanted something like that.
Paris Jackson Talks About Her Sexuality
Paris Jacksonthen went on to talk about her sexuality, specifically talking about her dating history, her preferences, and her labels as a whole. The actress started by stating that she likes to call herself gay, even though she has had many male partners over the years and is currently engaged to Justin Long.
This statement may surprise many, but there is a reasonable explanation behind it. Jackson explained that she has dated all kinds of people over the years who do not fit in the socially accepted gender binary. With this in mind, she finds the term “gay” to be more inclusive of her sexuality, while its definition would be different in the eyes of others.

I say I’m gay, because I guess I am, but I wouldn’t consider myself bisexual because I’ve dated more than just men and women. I’ve dated a man that had a v**ina. So it has nothing to do with what’s in your pants. It has nothing to do with your XY chromosome makeup…it’s literally just like, what are you like as a person.

While some might argue that the singer is describing pansexuality when she is talking about her preferences, it is quite common for people within the queer community to opt out of restrictive labels. This can range from labeling themselves as just queer or gay, as in the case for Jackson.
