TheSolo Levelinganime has become a great hit. The original manhwa was already very popular because of its wonderful story and impressive drawing style, especially for action parts. These elements have been given life in the most amazing and visually stunning way by the direction of the anime.

Sota Furuhashi, the producer ofSolo Leveling, and Shunsuke Nakashige, the director, discussed the modifications that were necessary to transform the well-known manhwa into a highly popular anime series during a talk.
Why Were The Original Funny Expressions Removed From TheSolo LevelingAnime?
During the discussion withAnimate Times, Shunsuke Nakashige stated,
“I thought this work required the high-end visuals that are trending these days. Therefore, I tried to avoid cartoon-like expressions as much as possible, using compositions, colors, and shooting processing similar to live-action footage. However, this would inevitably take up too much time and energy, and the images themselves would become too heavy. It might even kill the flavor of each section. To reach a compromise, we had repeated discussions with the staff of each section at meetings and during the video checks.”

The director had already talked about changes toSolo Levelingin the special documentary,TheLeveling of Solo Leveling.
He said that because the manhwa’s pace was too fast for a direct adaptation, he needed to “add some extra meat into the story” so it could flow better.

The Crunchyroll documentaryshowed another aspect ofSolo Leveling‘s attention to detail through its director, Shunsuke Nakashige. He interviewed staff members and the original author, Chugong, to learn about the characters’ hidden actions that could happen in the story.
The careful approach towards every single character, even those with smaller roles, is a notable characteristic of the anime’s production.

The increase in importance given toHunter Cha Hae-in‘s part, which got lots of praise on social media platforms, illustrates this commitment to detail as some viewers believed her character was not prominent enough in the initial webcomic.
