Phil Spencer is not everyone’s favorite person in the gaming industry, especially after consistently seemingly failing to keep his word and his questionable decisions that may have setback the Xbox platform. The gaming community is certain that he is one step closer to resigning from his duties as the head of Xbox Gaming.
Recent events drove a wedge between the gaming community and the Xbox brand and not everyone is a fan of the direction where Spencer is leading the company. Other fans suggest it is time to cut losses and relinquish the roles and responsibilities of leadership to someone much more competent.
It May Be Time to Accept That Phil Spencer Is a Long Way Away From His Prime
The gaming community’s memory is not to be trifled with, especially regarding Xbox and Microsoft’s future endeavors. Shreds of evidence are ready aboutPhil Spencer and his lackluster track recordin keeping his promise regarding porting high-profile first-party exclusives to rival platforms, namely Sony Interactive Entertainment and the PlayStation 5.
This year’sGamescomwas a massive event that sent shivers to the spines of every major Xbox supporter and shattered their hearts after witnessing the confirmation of the inevitablePlayStation 5 port ofIndiana Jones and The Great Circle. To make matters worse, the game will be released a few months after on Xbox.
Spencer’s probably wishing he retired right after the Zenimax acquisition. Either way, I reckon he’ll step down very shortly.
Spencer does not have a great history of keeping his word and it continues to upset the player base to see their head of the brand underdeliver not once but consistently. Some community members claimSpencer is a professional liarand believe he was causing more harm than good to the Xbox brand by giving false hope and breaking promises.

Spencer may have done a few things that benefitted the company like acquiring Bethesda Game Studios and other major third-party game developers. However, it didn’t take long for to make a mistake byshutting a few studios downshortly after.
