Kit Harington recalled a troublesome incident that took place before filmingGame of Throneswhere he took sole accountability. The actor rose to stardom for his portrayal of Jon Snow in the hit HBO series, and like his character, he also faced a dangerous situation in real life.
It wasn’t as if he needed a sword to defend himself, but the actor was left injured after a rash decision he made that delayed filming and even forced the costume department to alter his wardrobe.

Injuries are common when performing stunts in TV and movie projects, butKit Harington’s bad ankle didn’t happen on theGame of Thronesset. He was locked out of his apartment after a night of partying and realized he lost his keys. Without any other option, the actor attempted to climb through the window and accidentally fell to the ground.
He admitted viaEntertainment Weeklythat it was the “invincibility of youth” that encouraged him to do such a reckless action. “I was an idiot,” he added. Harington further noted that he “couldn’t even blame it on a film set” because it happened in his own house. It was the worst timing as well because filming for Season 3 was about to begin a couple of weeks after the accident.
The 37-year-old English actor instantly regretted his carelessness when he read the script and found out there would be lots of action scenes. Because of his injury, the production schedule was moved to give him ample time to recover, and they hired a body double for some of Jon Snow’s scenes. The costume team also had to alter his boots so he could easily wear them without adding more pain.

Feeling guilty about what happened to him, theEternalsstar confessed, “I’m sure [the producers] were cursing my name behind my back.” To make up for it, he bought the line producer a nice bottle of whiskey.
On set, Harington wasn’t usually the type of actor who would frequently check on his performance on the monitor. But this time, he had to watch himself to check if he was limping or not.
