The Boysstar Nathan Mitchell shares an update on the final season of the hit Prime Video series and what the audience can expect from Black Noir, the character he plays in the show. While he couldn’t give specifics, he teased fans that they have some crazy stuff in store for them.
Season 5 will be the final installment in the satirical superhero television series, but showrunner Eric Kripke promised that there will be more spinoffs to come and more interesting stories to look forward to.
Nathan Mitchell Provides Hopeful Updates OnThe BoysSeason 5
In an exclusive interview withThe Direct,The BoysstarNathan Mitchellrevealed they will soon be back in production after Season 4 wrapped up last month.
I’ve heard inklings, but hopefully, we head back. I don’t know if I can officially say when we go back. But we are going back relatively soon. And the writers are cooking up some great stuff. So they are in the kitchen. And they’re baking up some crazy s—t.
The actor teased that he’s had “a conversation with [Showrunner] Eric [Kripke] about what Season 5 is going to be” and he’s very excited to return to work. Mitchell said he’s had a few ideas to share aboutBlack Noir, but when Kripke came in and told him what he’s got for the character, the Canadian star went, “Oh, my God, that is my dream. I’m so happy we get to explore that.”
When asked how the story would end, Mitchell confessed he hadn’t been told anything. When it came to his own role, he expressed his desire “to see how he fights against those limitations.” Again, the actor reiterated that he remains clueless as to what they are getting into but “we’ll be exploring, hopefully, more of his ambitions as time goes on as we jump into season five.”

Why Black Noir Is Different In The Show
Fans may have noticed the altered approach to Black Noir in the series, andEric Kripkeexplained this in an interview withVariety. While the character is a clone ofHomelanderin the comics, the showrunner wasn’t a fan of that concept. “I’m sure fans are mad I’m not going that way, but that felt not as satisfying to me,” he confessed. “I’m like, if I’m going to follow this villain, I want this guy to be the villain.”

Another remark he made was that “cloning feels too magical for the show” and he tries to make everything else feel “as grounded as possible” so the clone aspect wouldn’t work. Other than that, Black Noir remains a very fascinating character to follow in the story.
