In fact, Matt Smith sustained a blow in the face during one of his rehearsals that almost cost him his job. In an interview withMaxforHouse of the Dragonscene reactions segment,Fabien Frankelrevealed he accidentally hit his co-starMatt Smithon the face during rehearsals and the latter was left with a bleeding face. The 42-year-old star pointed his finger next to his left eye and said the choreography felt like they were learning ballet, just with swords.

Frankel, who played Ser Criston Cole in the show, shared the same story in his interview withVarietyand added that of all people he could have possibly axed in the face, Smith was the worst. He knew right then and there that the producers would fire him if his co-star ended up with a severe injury.

Thankfully, Smith held no ill grudges towards his younger co-star. He quickly recuperated and was ready to go to battle again. “He chinned me, but it was alright. I lived to fight another day,” he told the outlet.
