In an interview withVanity Fair, British race car driverLewis Hamiltonopened up about his high-profile breakup from former Pussycat Dolls leader Nicole Scherzinger. He shared his realizations about the gruelling experience and the issues he encountered during the span of their long-term romance.
“I learned the hard way. I haven’t talked about it much. I’m really just super focused on work. I’ve realized that I can’t do two things or three things at once, I’ve got to focus on one.”
Hamilton was based in Monaco at the time, while Scherzinger worked in Los Angeles. The hectic schedule and different lines of job became the root cause of their irreconcilable differences. Still, Hamilton remained hopeful that in his next relationship, things would work out and fall into place.
“I really wanted to go through a growth process of getting myself to a point where I’m happy on my own, comfortable in my space. So that if I ever do meet someone, it’s an addition, rather than ‘I need you in my life.’”

“I don’t see anything negative; I think it’s quite natural when people separate and go their own ways. You just have to be adult about it and just always wish the other person happiness, success, and love —like, sincerely — and I do. We don’t, like, talk.”
The singer even wished her ex-boyfriend good fortune in life, so it is evident that she did not hold any ill feelings towards him. Furthermore, Scherzinger explained how these tragic experiences made her even wiser over the years.
“I’ve probably matured a little later in relationships and [in] my life because I started at such a young age. I was in my first group when I was 18. I was always so focused on working so much, so I didn’t have much time for relationships. I feel like I was just able to get to experience things a little later after work… As you get older, you find more balance in life.”
She added that happiness and contentment in oneself should always be the priority before loving someone else.
