The actress was present onThe Wayne Ayerspodcast, where Zhang shared her casting process and how it was like any other audition, where she figured out which role she would play in the series.
“It was just an audition like any other, I got sent the email and it was under a code name, of course, super secretive. And, I did figure out that it was Suki because the sides even though they weren’t actually from the show. They’re like dummy sides as they call it, should they left one line that was very specific to Suki.”

Following the audition, she shared how she had never seen the animated show, as she used to live in China, and she was somewhat embarrassed while sharing it.

“And I actually haven’t seen the show prior to the auditions since I grew up in China like I’ve never heard of it but um, I remember watching it to prep for the audition and you know, figuring out that I’m Suki because I just oh that lion ah that must be her.”
