VR game specialist Schell Games has today announced I Expect You To Die 3: Cog In the Machine forMeta Quest 2and PCVR headsets. Oddly enough, there’s no mention ofPSVRor the soon-to-be-releasedPSVR 2headsets from Sony, despite the first two games in the series releasing on Sony’s goggles. However, it’s worth noting that Sony will be hosting anew State of Playthis week with a focus on upcoming PSVR games, so maybe an announcement will come then?

The third entry in theI Expect You To Diefranchise was announced today with a trailer and a few tidbits from the developer. The trailer, down below, shows some of the precarious situations that agents will find themselves needing to escape from in the upcoming threequel.

I Expect You To Die 3 will pick up where the previous game left off, though extensive knowledge of the first two games is not required to enjoy the latest entry, according to Schell Games.

RELATED:PlayStation State Of Play Event Set For February 23For those who have died and survived a thousand times in the first two games, I Expect You To Die 3 will present a familiar challenge with the series' trademark humor and fiendishly challenging gameplay, as well as some knowing nods and winks toward the previous games. Newcomers, however, will not be left out as it’s pretty much a standalone story.

For those unfamiliar with the franchise, I Expect You To Die is a series of escape room games riffing on classic spy tropes and settings from the spy thrillers of yesteryear. Think Sean Connery’s Bond with a massive injection of silly humor and far more deaths than 007 ever experienced himself.

The idea is that you will die time and time again as you slowly figure out the solution to each level’s puzzles. With each death comes new knowledge and each restart will get you a little closer to the level’s end.

“We have some unique and exciting locations in I Expect You To Die 3, and we can’t wait to see how players creatively solve puzzles in a race to beat Dr. Zor at their own game. Players new to the series can jump right in and have a great time, and returning fans will appreciate some fun nods to the prior games,” said Matt Mahon, Project Director for I Expect You To Die 3: Cog In the Machine.

There’s no release date as of yet for I Expect You To Die 3: Cog In the Machine, though the announcement trailer and associatedblog poststate that the game will release sometime in 2023 for Meta Quest 2 and PCVR headsets. There’s no word on a PSVR or PSVR 2 release as of yet, though we’ll keep this one under surveillance and report back with any fresh intel.
