Kate Cassidy was a well-known name in the halls of The CW, first appearing inSupernatural, and then going on to be an important character in TheArrowwith The CW’s DC block. However, the actor’s departure fromSupernaturalyielded a show that not many know, but those who do, love it to bits.

Katie Cassidy had some fond memories on the set ofSupernatural, but the actress found her character being stalled. While Eric Kripke said that they simply could not afford Cassidy anymore, the actress provided a slightly different story.
Katie Cassidy was not sure what the writers would do with her character
Despite having a great time on the show, Katie Cassidy decided that she needed to move on from the project. WhileEric Kripketold outlets that it was because the show simply could not afford her anymore, the actress had something different to say (viaTV Guide):
Warner Bros. wasn’t exactly sure what they were going to be doing with my character

Following this, the actress got a chance to be part of a different series, one that would never be as big asSupernatural, but one that has a cult following even to this day.Harper’s Islandwas a thriller that looked into a destination wedding-turned-murder mystery, in which Katie Cassidy essayed the role of Trish Wellington.
While the actor played Ruby onSupernatural, a demon who had ‘vessels’, hence explaining the change in the actress playing her,Harper’s Islandhad Cassidy start as the bride-to-be, going to the titular island to be wed to Christopher Gohram’s Henry, whose best friend serves as the protagonist for the story.

Supernaturalas a whole had a lot of potential to grow beyond its main show
Supernatural’s fifteen-season run opened up a variety of opportunities for further world-building, however, the shows that were offered up for expanding and deepening the universe seemed to be heavily jinxed, cursed, or otherwise marked for failure with projects being canned or outright canceled.

The Winchesters, both backdoor pilotsBloodlinesandWayward Sisters, and a Wild-West series about the legend of badass hunter Samuel Colt, all had the potential to turnSupernaturalinto the juggernaut that it could have been, but that was never to be.
Supernatural, as the original show, could survive and inspire future series, for there is certainly a great set of characters and storylines lying under the soil of this show. With 15 years under its belt, surely there could be new fans around the corner, that could renew CW’s interest in the shows it can get done.

Supernaturalcan be streamed on Amazon Prime Video
