NBC’sFRIENDShas undoubtedly defined an era with its humor, aortic pumps, and Thanksgiving episodes while navigating through the lives of six New Yorkers who found their solace at the cozy cafe, Central Perk. But while the timeless sitcom offered fans with few of the most iconic moments through its 10-season run, David Schwimmer’s flirting skills remained the most beloved bit of the show.

From flirting with a pizza lady to dating his student, the geeky Paleontologist had no chill when it came to his love life. But despite Ross’ conscience screaming “three divorces”, fans still can’t get over the way David Schwimmer flirted with Katie the salesgirl while completely ignoring Jennifer Aniston’s Rachel at the counter.
David Schwimmer’s Flirting with the Salesgirl, Remains a Timeless Piece of Comedy
Through the 10 seasons,David Schwimmer’s Ross Gelleralone has divorced more women, than Matthew Perry’s Chandler has ever been in serious relationships with. So you might think, perhaps, Ross had that charm that attracted women towards him. Well, maybe not, because his attempts at flirting were undoubtedly one of the most hilarious moments throughout the show.

Take for example when Ross got flirted back while purchasing baby items at a store alongsideJennifer Aniston’s Rachel Green. In the episode “The One with the Cooking Class”, Ross and Rachel are seen walking into a store selling baby items, to make a big purchase for their yet-to-be-born child.

Standing at the counter with Ross handing over the items to the salesgirl/cashier, while Rachel holding the card to make the purchase, Ross suddenly gets drawn into a conversation with the salesgirl Katie (Rena Sofer). Realizing that they have bought a lot of dinosaur items from the store, Katie strikes up a conversation which leads Ross to clarify that he is a Paleontologist, while completely ignoring Rachel.
“Oh, I love your neighborhood. There’s a great gym right around the corner from your building.”Katie says

“That’s my gym,”Ross said.
“I could tell, you work out. A Paleontologist who works out, you’re like Indiana Jones.”Katie replies.
“I am like Indiana Jones.”Ross got a realization.
One thing leads to another and audiences get a hint that Rachel is surely jealous of Ross getting hit on by Katie. But unfazed by the fact, Ross continues conversing with the salesgirl when Katie asks about the gym near their building, prompting Ross to reveal that he works out over there and Katie comparing him to Indiana Jones.
Fans are Still Losing Their Minds Over Ross’ Flirting Skills While Ignoring Rachel
Venturing through NBC’sFRIENDS, fans can randomly select any episode and there’s a high chance that they will stumble upon Matthew Perry’s epic sarcasm or Courtney Cox’s obsession with cleanliness. ButDavid Schwimmer’s flirting skills as Ross Geller remain as a not-so-common and yet timelessly hilarious bit of the show.

Therefore, even after decades since the end of the sitcom, Ross’ flirting with Katie and landing an actual date with her stood out as one of the most iconic moments. More than anything fans were thoroughly impressed with how David Schwimmer’s character repeatedly ignoredJennifer Aniston’s Rachelat the counter like his life problems while flirting with Katie.
“I wanna ignore my life problems like they both ignore Rachel.”

“Can we appreciate Ross’ enormous act of restraint by not asking her to marry him?”
“That pause… I am like Indiana Jones. Gets me every time.”

“Guess he didn’t quit the gym after all.”
“If it weren’t for Rachel, Ross would’ve had another divorce.”
Taking to social media fans joked and commented on the fan-favorite scene while addressing how Ross might have dated Katie for a while and asked her to marry him, only to add another divorce to his list. Others absolutely loved how Ross ignored Rachel as a third wheel while flirting with Katie.
But overall, whether it’s David Schwimmer’s bumbling attempts at romance orJennifer Aniston‘s endearing reactions,FRIENDScontinues to evoke laughter and nostalgia, proving that some sitcom moments truly never go out of style.
