Here’s our guide to help you find the Dung Eater inElden Ringinside the Sewer Gaol and the Subterranean Shunning Grounds.
How to find the Dung Eater in Elden Ring
Elden Ringis the latest game by FromSoftware, and just like pastSoulsgames, it has several obscure quests with few indications. It’s up to the players to speak to the NPCs and experiment (or look up some guides). Even if you do manage to trigger and progress in certain quests, some of the later hints in the quest storyline can be very cryptic, as is the case of the Dung Eater, who tells you to fight him in the sewers, but with no real indication of where these sewers are.
First location of the Dung Eater and starting the quest
The Dung Eater is part of a long questline inElden Ringand is initially found in the Roundtable Hold, Table of Lost Grace hub area.
How to find a Seedbed Curse to get the key to the Sewer-Gaol
Once you manage to find a Seedbed Curse key item, you can give it to the Dung Eater so he gives you the key to the Sewer-Gaol. If you don’t have a Seedbed Curse yet, you can find one in the Fortified Manor of Leyndell Royal Capital. The Dung Eater will tell you to fight him in the sewers under Leyndell.
Where to find the Dung Eater
Once you have this key, you will be able to enter the Subterranean Shunning Grounds area under Leyndell Royal Capital. To access this area, teleport to the Avenue Balcony Site of Grace in Leyndell. Go down the stairs and cross the door. Turn left right after the door and jump to the area down there. You should jump on the houses' roofs first and then jump further down. You’ll find a well surrounded by zombies. Go down this well and you’ll find a locked door.
Location of the Dung Eater inside Subterranean Shunning-Grounds (updated path)
Unlocking the Underground Roadside site of grace
After passing through the door, You’ll first have to jump down and go forward. Take the first turn right and go forward to enter the Subterranean Shunning-Grounds. You’ll come across rats. Keep going forward till a ledge. Turn left at the ledge and you’ll see a ladder to go down. You can also just jump down. Be careful because as soon as you drop down, enemies will attempt to snipe you from behind. Down there, take the first turn left through a door and you’ll find the Underground Roadside site of grace.
Dung Eater’s cell location
After activating the site of grace, go back through the door you just passed and turn left to continue through the tunnel. Stay on the left side of the tunnel and keep going forward, be careful of the enemies there. As you keep going forward, you’ll find a hole opened through a sewage grid. Drop off there. You’ll be facing a wall after you drop, go to the left of that wall and keep going forward.
Forward, you’ll find some rats and a turn to the left. Follow that turn and there will be some poisonous giant plants, be sure to dodge their attacks as you keep moving forward. You’ll see a ladder. Be careful there because as you approach the ladder, an enemy will snipe you from above with magic beams. A good way to avoid it is to stop running and simply walk as you near the ladder. That way the beams will aim right beside the ladder, and you’ll be able to climb safely. When you’re done climbing, turn right and you’ll see the door to a cell. This is where the Dung Eater is in the Subterranean Shunning-Grounds. You can kill the Dung Eater there for his equipment. However, if you keep him alive and complete his questline, you can obtain the Mending Rune of the Fell Curse which unlocks a new ending.
