When the Colombian-American actress visited a Spanish show to promote her upcoming crime drama miniseries,Griselda, she felt like the TV host was mocking her accent. Addressing the interviewer who dared to mock her accent, theAmerica’s Got Talentjudge made it clear that she’s more than just a pretty face. With her new role in Netflix’sGriselda, Vergara’s fiery spirit seems impossible to contain.

Throughout its entire run on television, Christopher Lloyd and Steven Levitan’sModern Familywas loved by everyone, and even when it ended, its fans continued to stand by it. Nonetheless, they thought Sofía Vergara’s character, Gloria Delgado-Pritchett, was the best aspect of the entire series.
Along with not having one of the best and strongest American English accents in real life, the actress’ on-screen character mispronounced several words during the scene. However, it was precisely this that won her fans’ affection.Apparently, a TV host recently made fun of her accent.

During Vergara’s visit to the Spanish-language talk showEl Hormiguero, host Pablo Motos asked her how to pronounce ‘Modern Family’.
Vergara was initially surprised when this question unintentionally came up when she was talking about her role in the hugely popular sitcom, but she wasted no time in responding with the best comeback ever. The actress, 51, stated:

“I say it wrong? Oh, because you speak better English than me? Ah.”
The audience chuckled and cheered, but she was far from finished. Leaning in as if she were waiting for Motos to respond, she questioned:

“How many Emmy nominations do you have in the United States, sorry?”
The actress, however, handled everything politely, even sharing photos from the interaction onInstagramand thanking the show for having her.Vergara, who starred in the hit ABC sitcom for 11 seasons as the fiery Gloria Pritchett, is nominated for four Emmys and four Golden Globes.

After becoming well-known for her colorful character, Gloria Pritchett, onModern Family, Vergara surprised fans by deciding to play the intense character of Griselda Blanco.
The fact that Blanco, a well-known drug lord and single mother of four children, became well-known for leading cartels and popularizing cocaine “fascinated” the actress. She stated (throughCBS):
“As a woman, I was fascinated. Like, how did she become even more ruthless, more horrific than any man.”

Blanco’s initial involvement in the drug trade was a desperate attempt to support her children, despite the allegations that she ordered the deaths of hundreds of people.Vergara prepared for the role in large part by practicing method acting, she added:
“And I was like, ‘Oh my god, why now suddenly after 50 years I’m gonna be a smoker?’”
She was also personally affected by the role, having grown up in Colombia at the height of the drug trade. She added:
“My brother was part of that business. I know what that kind of business can do to a family, to a person, to a country.”
From a young model to one of the highest-paid actors, Vergara had a number of small roles to her credit, including one in a Pepsi commercial.Penned by Doug Miro and Ingrid Escajeda, the new crime drama Netflix miniseries is helmed by Andrés Baiz and produced by Vergara and Eric Newman.
