Tom Blyth, the breakout star ofThe Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes, is all set to lead another popular IP. He is confirmed to be the lead in the film adaptation ofWatch Dogs, the hit video game from Ubisoft. New Regency will produce the film helmed by French director Mathieu Turi. Blyth will star oppositeTalk to Mefame Sophie Wilde.

The film adaptation comes after years of being in development hell. Rumors of a film adaptation began in 2013, and it went into development in 2014. Interestingly, the positive update on the film comes at a time when fans largely believe that Ubisoft is done with the franchise.

After years in development hell, it was announced that Christie LeBlanc would write the original screenplay for the film.

Watch Dogsvideo game lets the players become the most skilled hackers and use technology to achieve their varied goals. The antagonists in the games are usually corrupt governments & companies, crime bosses, and rival hackers. It is yet to be announced as to whichWatch Dogsversion is being adapted into the live-action movie version.

Fans hope that it is the first game from 2014, as one fan on X suggested that Tom Blyth will be playing Aiden Pearce, the protagonist of the first game, in the film. Another fan shared that Blyth was a great casting choice inThe Hunger Gamesfilm and expected the same with his new role. One excited fan also wanted a remake for the first game, though he added having a soft spot forLegion, the third in the series.

While the film adaptation could be a positive sign for the franchise, it still holds true thatWatch Dogsnever achieved the success levels of Ubisoft’sAssassins CreedorFar Cry.
