The internet has no shortage of unlikely theories about FromSoftware president and Dark Souls series director Hidetaka Miyazaki, but not many come from a former PlayStation executive.

With three decades spent at Sony,Shuhei Yoshidais a genuine veteran of the games industry, which lends this specific theory a little more credibility. But as he’s quick to specify, this isn’t insider information; it’s just a theory.

Bloodborne PC Is Closer Than Ever, and Runs At Over 120FPS

The unofficial Bloodborne port on PC has made yet another significant advancement, reaching over 120+ FPS during testing.

According to the former PlayStation executive, studio head, and director of Bloodborne, Hidetaka Miyazaki loves Bloodborne so much he can’t bear to let others direct any project related to it.

“Miyazaki-san really, really loved Bloodborne… you know, what he created. So I think he is interested [in a sequel], but he’s so successful and he’s so busy, so he cannot do it himself, but he does not want anyone else to touch it.”

According to Yoshida, it’s not just the hypothetical sequel that is affected. Remakes, next-gen updates, and ports are just as unlikely to be developed as long as Miyazaki remains busy with other projects.

And it’s not hard to imagine why he would be so busy, with the success of Elden Ring and its first DLC, followed by the recent announcement of the standalone expansion Elden Ring Nightreign.

Who is Shuhei Yoshida?

With some exceptions, video game developers aren’t exactly known for their charisma. Publisher executives with a background in business administration, even less so.

And yet, you almost certainly remember formerPizza Hut and Nintendo marketing executiveReggie Fils-Aimé, who eventually becameNintendo of America’s COO.

People who are into video games don’t usually care about who’s running the business, but there are exceptions. Shuhei Yoshida is the exception.

Yoshida often found his way on stage during Sony’s E3 presentations and even presented many of thetrailers for the PlayStation 4, back in 2013.

His interview with Kinda Funny Games signed the end of his time at PlayStation, as it went live the day after his last day at the company. Yoshida himself doesn’t seem to miss the company he worked at for 31 years.

As he puts it: “I’m unemployed. I’m very free, enjoying freedom”.

WHERE TO PLAY

One of the most influential games in the Souls-like genre, alongside the Dark Souls franchise, is Bloodborne, set in the ancient city of Yharnam that flaunts the gothic vibe we know and love. Macabre enemies in a dying world lurk around every corner while you play the Hunter.
